“Very good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2010

Welcoming staff, clean, well kept facilities...pool needs a little upgrade, that's about it.
Food & service staff were excellent.
Golf course experience very good.
So much to do at resort and in Williamsburg, one week simply isn't enough.
Would return in a hearbeat!

We just spent five days at the Kingsmill Resort, and we still did not have time to take it all in. There is something on-site for every member of the family. When the kids are not complaining about how they are bored; then you know you are in the right place. The views, the amazing breakfast buffet, the comfortable bed, large shower, are all top notch.
The employees are all first class and could not do enough for us to make sure our stay was memorable. Our housekeeper was the best, our room was the cleanest room we ever stayed in, and my kids know how to mess it up. Everyday, our room was cleaner than the previous one. We are planning to return real soon.

Went to Kingsmill for our short honeymoon. It's a little pricey, but we were splurging. From the time I booked our accommodations until the end of the trip, the customer service was over the top in excellence. Even thru the e-mail exchanges I felt welcomed and important. When we drove up thru the beautifully landscaped property, an attendant came running out to greet us, asked us if we needed help and led us to the registration desk and introduced us. Yes, I know he works on tips, but he was very friendly and helpful and started our stay with a smile. Our room was ready at our early arrival. The accomodations were just as indicated online. The shuttle bus made our trip easy and simple and the drivers were all helpful and friendly. Yes, the shuttle bus only runs at certain times, but with the schedule they gave us at check in, it worked well and we could plan our trips. We ate at three of the restaurants and all meals were excellent as was the staff and the prices were not stupid.

Some of the other complaints were of view and missing articles. I don't ever expect a view unless your room rate claims to have a water view, etc. Don't ever leave valuables in a room; the rooms had very nice safes that we put our jewelry in and they were easy to use. Leave your valuables at home or lock them up no matter where you are.

We had an absolutely wonderful time in this beautiful community, were impressed with customer service and can't wait to go back. My only complaint (and it's just me) is that we are used to having ceiling fans in the bedroom.

The pool and spa area were gorgeous and the ladies locker room/shower area had everything you could possibly need.

The views from the pool area, the restaurant at the registration building, and the marina restaurant all had great views.

With the exception of the long driveway, this place is almost within walking distance of Busch Gardens and the Water Country is just 4 miles away, but with the shuttle it really didn't matter...just hop on and hop off right at the entrance areas.

Kingsmill does it right!

We chose this resort for our annual girlfriend R&R trip and were not dissappointed! Our suite was spacious and the entire staff was very gracious and accommodating. The transportation they provided on.... and off... the property was superb!
The meals and atmosphere at the many restaurants on the property were outstanding. I highly reccommend Kingsmill Resort for everyone looking for a beautiful facility to be pampered and experience the ultimate in rest and relaxation!

This is a great family resort. We had a 2 bedroom suite that was recenly renovated. Much of the resort looked as if it was recently updated. The pool is very nice and has a great view of the James River. The golf was great and the food at Regatta's restaurant pleased the adults and children. The location is close to other the historic area and theme parks. I would recommend this for resort for any family with children or couples looking for a golf / spa trip.

We booked 3 nights in a Deluxe Double room. We arrived at building 5 and the "view" was of dense trees about 10ft from balcony with no view of water or anything but foliage. We didn't book the resort with the advertised "bluff overlooking the Kingsmill Marina or Wareham's Pond" to be enjoying a solid tree line view just outside our balcony! Front desk made no appologies and said they could not accomodate us anywhere else on the resort. I left and called Marriot ( Kingsmill Dr) which was more than accomodating and much less expensive ($159 night with 2 free Adult Discovery vouchers for both Busch Gardens & Water Country).
I returned to the Kingsmill front desk and politely (holding back much anger) and asked for a refunded while my children waited in the lobby. Again very upset, but not wanting to make a scene, I quietly stated to the clerk that I wish I had known there was no view, that we could have the same view we were given at any hotel. I mentioned what was advertised was not correct and told the clerk that I wished we had not waisted our time having come all the way from TX for this experience. The clerk had no comment or appology.
The clerk gave me a complete refund and I left, but our 9 & 14 remained behind as they had to use the restroom. As they exited and met us in the car, they said they overheard the male desk clerk ask the female clerk (who I had been talking to), "What was the problem?" The female clerk told the male clerk I was upset at the view and said, "at least they had a view!"
As a note, when first checking in it was also explained there was no breakfast buffet the next morning as described as well.. that should have been my first clue.
The Marriot was very accomodating, friendly and enthusiastic about our experience.

Beautiful resort, gated, clean, with polite staff which would usually make it a great place to recommend unless your wife's 2ct diamond bracelet is stolen out of the your room. Yes, the gates didn't do it nor did the security staff.
While we were out of our room someone went through our bags and stole a special gift I gave my wife. Best part; three calls to the hotel including two to the general manager (and one to the police) with NO call back from the hotel. No apology, no "tell us what happened". Nothing.
If you go, leave the valuables at home. Not so "high-end" after all! Lower your expectations
