I was wary about this hotel given the poor reviews I saw, yet we booked this through Priceline and they said that it was a 3-star hotel so we couldn't get our money back. We checked in and was given Room 309.
We got to the room; it was damp and smelled. One mattress had a huge dent in it as if two sumo wrestlers laid there for two weeks. If you placed a level across the bed there was probably two inches between the top of the bed and the bottom of the level. In addition, within five minutes, a train came by and it was obvious that if they came by all night, between that and the bed we wouldn't be getting much sleep.
To their credit (and this is why I gave two stars instead of one), I called the front desk and asked for a better room. Allison moved us to Room 455.
This room also smelled, but didn't seem as damp and the mattresses did not have indentations in them, though they offered little support. The refrigerator had rust in it, the bathroom sink fixtures were wobbling, and the shower head was sticking out of the wall and it wobbled too if you touched it. The bathroom consisted of a sink and a bathtub, with just enough room to close the door and sit on the toilet. If you have kids and wanted to change, there really is no place to do so, which means sending the kids out of the room while we changed.
Everything looked and felt cheap, as if they bought an old hotel thirty years ago and then have let things fall apart or replaced what absolutely had to be replaced with inferior products that at least looked ok.
What was positive? The proximity to Busch Gardens and William and Mary. Allison at the front desk was very nice and the wi-fi was included and worked pretty well, except for the day we were checking out when it did not work at all.
Stay as far south in the hotel as you can to avoid the noise of the trains that parallel Pochahontas...
