Had originally planned a 4 night stay at this hotel but after the 1st night shortened our stay. If we could have found another location as close to BG or WC would have moved in a heartbeat. This was week of July 4 and had hard enough time getting this room.Glad I took my Clorox spray with me! First impression of the Lobby was that it was okay but it was obvious that there was some large family reunion or wedding taking place - loud people "controlling" the pool area, computer area, lobby. Metal ashtrays between elevators looked as though they had been kicked in or picked up and thrown - all dented and nasty looking even without cigarettes in them. Elevators had smashed food in the tracks of the door - pretzels I think- walls of elevator were disgusting. Upon entering our room, found that the bathroom (toilet and shower/tub) was small - I'm 6'0" and believe the ceiling may be 7'0" if that - being generous. The celiling in the bathroom was yellow and flaking off all around the light fixture - took pictures and will post later. The furniture was old, broken desk drawer that hit my leg when I tried to sit at the desk - that's not the worst part though - that would be the bug that crawled across my leg as I was sitting there - unrecognizable critter - brown crawling thing - got a picture of it, too. When we reported this to the front desk they did apologize after I showed them the photographs - even sent an apology note and tray of fruit and cheese to us after we got into our new room. They did give us a choice of 2 rooms to look at before moving - one was only slightly better than the other - the comment about the closet doors hanging on by a wing and a prayer- very accurate - the dust ruffle in our new room had a hole in it - the dial on the fridge was missing so it wouldnt' get cold - the maintenance man told us they purposely remove them so guests don't leave them cranked up all the time. The general feel of the hotel was that it did not meet the standards of a Crowne Plaza property. My husband has traveled extensively and stayed at hundreds of chains and was repulsed by the lack of quality housekeeping and maintenance here. Everything is so dated and I see online that renovations have been in the works since like 2005 - obviously they either aren't done or the repairs that were made have been vandalized and/or abused in the past 3 years.
