“Never Again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2009

Let me start by saying, we have stayed a several Wyndham properties and this was by no means the worst.
Check-in was quick and easy. They tried to give us a "welcome package"...I just told them we would be back later and they never bothered us again.
The grounds are lovely. They have a small park near a pond, a volleyball court, and an outdoor pool. It is very peaceful and would be a great place to take a walk...if you have time for that...lol!
The units look like townehouses. There is a shared entrance for 4 units...we had the 2 units on the bottom floor. Our unit was a 1 bedroom master suite, and our guests had a 1 bedroom efficiency studio. Together they made up a 2 bedroom suite. They were nice and bright and clean.
Our 1 bedroom had:
A bedroom with sliding doors to a deck.
A bathroom with a small, seperate bathtub and sink area. The shower area had a washer & dryer, which took forever to dry clothes.
A living room with a fireplace, an entertainment center, 2 chairs, and a sleeper sofa, which had 2 large stains on the mattress!!! This was a huge problem, because we planned on using it for our kids. There was a door that led to the deck.
The deck was average in size, but the chairs were the cheap plastic kind.
A dining room that was small, but functional.
A kitchen that was full size and fully stocked with all our cooking needs. The appliances were not updated, just painted over...the painted drips were visible...but, they were in working order.
The studio had:
A bedroom
A bathroom
A seperate living area with an entertainment center, a sleeper sofa(again with stains!!!) and a small kitchen area, with a small table and 2 chairs.
The kitchen had everything you would need to cook, just on a smaller scale.
There was a total of 4 old televisions, which had universal remotes that didn't work.
So, all in all, the rooms were acceptable, nothing so big that I would not go back.

So, why never again?.....The noise is out of this world! It was as if the people upstairs were in the room with us...and they were an older couple. I can't even imagine how horrible it would have been to have a family like ours up there! I could here the TV in our living room, with the bedroom and bathroom doors shut. The TV wasn't even loud, when sitting in the living room. The walls actually made it worse. We had the kids play in the studio, while we sat in the dining room of the larger room. Well, the noise was just too much...and that was with both adjoining doors closed! The walls are made of tissue paper and spit! Which is why the room only gets 1 star. So, never again! It's a shame, since the area really is lovely. But, it doesn't matter how it looks, if you can't sleep due to noise.

Another problem...bees!!! They were several large holly bushes by the doors, and they attracted large amounts of bees!!! The kids were terrified, and would run past as fast as they could.

We did go to Kingsgate to use the arcade. It was a madhouse! The pool, arcade and tennis courts were all packed. It was nice to only pay $5 for 7 people to play video games, but quite a few were broken. I'm guessing some of the people in there were not even from the resorts, since I never had to show indentification to get an access card. It's so busy, they couldn't even see who was going in or out. I could've held the door open for anyone and they wouldn't have noticed. Too bad, because it's a great idea.

I think we'll stick to Bonnet Creek and Glacier Canyon Lodge...or a resort with similar qualities:)

We stayed at Patriot's place back in September and loved it. We had a one bedroom suite that was very spacious and clean. We learned a lot from reading the reviews here on tripadvisor. Be sure to ask for a renovated room. The bathroom was awesome. It was like two bathrooms in one. It had a stand up shower and also another shower which was in a huge round jetted tub. The few complaints I have is that there is no wireless internet. I love to surf the internet on my laptop. Also the sign that says Patriot's Place is to small and the walls were thin. You could hear everything next door. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Stayed here 1 week for our 30th wedding anniversary.

Previously toured and purchased Wyndham timeshare points at Bonnet Creek in Florida.
Problems:
This location is very lacking. It is no different than going to a regular hotel because it lacks all the facilities the other Wyndham properties tend to have. Sales staff were pushy about attending a "welcome meeting" to get our gift basket. When asked if a sales presentation would occur they said yes. No thanks!

No internet, including wifi. Told to go over to the Kingsgate or Governor's Green. No gym facilities. Pool was closed. Meanwhile if we had stayed at the other two Wyndham properties we would have had all the usual amenities...as their pools were open, they also had large activity centers, walkways, mini golf, etc etc

Patriot's Place consists of multiple 2-story buildings with different exteriors - so it resembles a colonial village. We had a studio, and it was quite small (compared to the Marriott resort studios). Our studio had 2 problems - the dvd player wasn't hooked up/working and the hot/cold water was switched in the bathtub, so the first night there we thought we had no hot water in the bathtub. There is no way we were the first people who stayed in this unit - so the management had to have had previous reports of the problem, yet it was never addressed.

As previous commentor's noted: the entrance sign is tiny and would be bypassed easily. Watch for the Ramada 1776 sign as they share the property.

Conclusion:
Our biggest disappointment was the lack of faciilities. We ended up going over to the Kingsgate daily to use the gym and the internet. We also noticed the other Wyndham locations are more spacious properties and are more upscale. I wouldn't return to this property again...would hold out for the Governor's Green (nicest looking) or the Kingsgate (best fitness room)

Well, my wife and I recently returned home after another wonderful vacation in Williamsburg, and our new "2nd home", Patriots Place. We just love the place. When we first arrived, we were given a condo in the older section, and had some noise issues with a neighbor(believe me, if we complain and we did, then there was a hell of a lot of noise), we complained to the desk, and voila! they moved us down the road a piece, and into a newer condo. It was very unexpected, and they treated us marvelously. Thanks and kudos to girls at the desk.

Our vacation was wonderful. Here's a brief synopsis: we visited Historic Jamestown, Jamestown Settlement; Yorktown Riverfront, Old Towne and Battlefield site; Appomattox, Petersburg and Kill Devil Hill's in the Outer Banks. When we visited last year, it was our honeymoon, and we never imagined that we could have more fun. We were wrong!!!! Also, while in Yorktown, we took a sail on the S/V SERENITY, located in the harbor. Wow!!!! There is so much to do in this area, and the accomodations at Patriots Place made our trip much more enjoyable. There is a lot of renovation going on at Patriots Place, but we were not bothered by noise from the construction, at all.

Williamsburg and Patriots Place is going to be our annual vacation retreat. There is so much to do and see and we haven't even scratched the surface. We highly recommend Patriots Place to everyone. There is not a lot to do for families with small children, but Kingsgate and Governor's Green are just up the road. Thanks again to the wonderful folks at Patriots Place!!!!!!

  • Liked — Cleanliness and quality of service from staff.
  • Disliked — Noise in first condo. Problem rectified by staff, no problem.

We stayed for a long weekend while going to Busch Gardens and Howl-O-Scream, we had a great stay here. Units were great for a family of 4, only one bathroom but it was huge with lots of storeage space. I do not think our unit had been remodeled yet but they were working on many of them in the area while we were there. It was a little dated, but clean. We even used the fireplace, kids loved sleeping on the sofa bed in front of the fire. SIx mile drive to Busch Gardens and lots of resturants very close by.

The Wyndham is a average condo resort condo unit from what we've seen. Rooms a little small, but furnishings and kitchen served it's purpose. Clean and service friendly and helpful. Walls thin - we could hear a baby next door through the night. Location good - in the center of all major attractions - Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, and within 15 minutes for Jamestowna nd Yorktown. Right on main shopping and restuarent strip but yet set back and private. Pool was clean and well supervised. While the geease a nice to look at, they crap all over - so watch your step when walking on the lawns. We were using a friends condo, and never got pressured to purchase on of our own.

We booked a week stay at this resort & we had a great VA vacation. Only problem was, we had a room on the main level & you're able to hear everything next door & above you as well! Plus, it needs to be renovated!!! Other than those things, it was a nice relaxing vacation.
