Needed to travel with our dog over the holidays, found this hotel based on reviews and agreed. For the price, pet friendly- very pleased, and conveniently located. No surprising extra fees. We had a suite, and the heat wasn't optimal in one room and the internet service was a little spotty. Breakfast was so- so, but for the price- worthy!

I'm a mom of 3 who wanted to plan a Christmas Vacay getaway. I settled on Williamsburg VA so we could experience Busch Gardens Christmas Town and Colonial Williamsburg. After much hotel research I settled on the La Quinta Inn. The stay was good, not above and beyond extraordinary, but solidly good. My bill averaged about $60 per night. We felt with that was good value.

PROS:
1/ Affordable
2/Location within 10 minutes of all attraction
3/Pool was so much fun! Kids spent as much time in it as possible.
4/Breakfast was included
5/ Beds were comfortable. We slept well.
6/Rooms were clean. No critters were found-these days that is high on my list of priorities
7/Computers available for guest use
8/ Fridge and Microwave in room

CONS
1/ Breakfast was so so. It wasn't very delicious, but it was a 'just fill yourself up so we don't have to buy lunch' type of affair
2/Beds were double, not queen. I dealt with it but my husband thought they were too small.
3/Wifi VERY spotty. We picked up the Red Roof Inn better than the hotel we were actually staying at!
4/Hotel seems a bit understaffed-housekeeping was slow.
5/Shows some signs of wear-dents in wall, cracks, etc.
6/Ramps installed over stairs in hallways were treacherous.
7/Microwave was plugged into a surge suppressor and would trip upon use. We had to unplug it and put it on the floor to get it to an outlet. That was ridiculous

We decided that for the price we paid, we were able to deal with the cons. The most important elements for my family are cleanliness and price, which this hotel was able to offer.

I had a very happy stay at this property and hopefully will be returning soon. We stayed for Christmas Town at Busch Gardens and had a great time. Location was very convenient being about 5 minutes from the park and the staff and hotel itself was fantastic. We can't wait to return to Williamsburg and hopefully back here. Highly recommended!

Very friendly hotel staff, great room, great price! The best place to stay in Williamsburg with your dogs. My wife and I stayed here with our two small dogs for two nights during Christmas. It was a wonderful experience. We were within 10 minutes of everything we planned to do and see. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Williamsburg.

For a winter trip, we searched and contacted Williamsburg VA hotels for those with indoor swimming pools. When calling La Quinta, they said that it was a full-year, heated, indoor pool, but they failed to mention the air temperature was 60-63 degrees (it was like that for the entire 3-day stay and didn't change with outdoor temp). What's worse is that the same space is shared with their sunny side breakfast area. Several people and I complained to staff and the owner. It looked like most people took food back to their rooms. At varying times, people were told it's unseasonably cold (not true - they could have checked NOAA), they were not allowed to adjust the temperature, and/or it's an awfully big space to try and heat. Nonetheless, we didn't feel safe swimming because there was no lighting to speak of (they replaced all the floodlights with low brightness CFL's and a half dozen weren't even working.

Breakfast was fairly good but missing some things from other La Quinta's. They kept doing sausage and gravy every morning, and my kids (let alone any I know) care for that stuff.

The staff stopped replenishing the breakfast a half hour early, when alerted, they replenished just before the close of breakfast but still shut off everything electric including lights.

The room wasn't cleaned but the front desk said that our room was marked do not disturb (we didn't). They said the staff had left for the day. An hour later, they told my wife we can switch rooms (how many families of 5 would do that with all of their luggage and clothes?).

The dining and lobby men's room had fallen apart.

I am putting this in context of our stays at other La Quinta's and other Williamsburg VA hotels.

Room Tip: There are about 4 sets of 3-4 steps each that run along the main wing (on every floor) from the main...

We have stayed at this La Quinta before and will return again. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the location can't be beat. It is a very short, walkable distance to the Historic Center. Great value and always a pleasant time.

Our room was clean, had a refrigerator & microwave. The bed was excellent - I think it was a Temperpedic mattress. There is a nice size pool. Plenty of room for the dog to run (and they do not charge for dogs). The breakfast was typical but nicely laid out. The breakfast room is really nice - open and airy. We go to Williamsburg several times a year and I will definitely stay there again.
