I booked this hotel in 2012 for a family reunion in 2013. I asked for a block of 10 rooms. I was offered complimentary use of the ballroom for the two nights and one day that we were there. A month prior to the reunion I was advised that since we were not using the catering services, they were releasing the ballroom to be used by other parties (no one there but military). The military also took over use of the poolroom. The ballroom was empty with the exception of breakfast.
There was a request for 2 rooms as close to the ground floor as possible that were handicap accessible and adjoining. Why did this group end up on the 7th floor with rooms across the hall from one another!! The family was not placed in close proximity to one another. I reserved two rooms myself and one was on the 2nd floor and the other was on the 4th floor. The person responsible for handling my group booking (Jean) made no metion of the military being at the hotel for a training excercise, but they had been there at least a month prior to my family function. The military acted as if they owned the hotel and were not guests as the rest of us were. They were consistently in the lobby or outside the doors smoking. No matter which entrance you used, you had to walk through groups of them congregating at the doors. I requested use of the picnic area, which was first come, first serve. No problem,... except the tables had been used as ashtrays,...just nasty!
Jean also advised, per my contract that we would be able to book rooms right up until the day of my function. If there were 10 rooms blocked off, why was one of my family members not able to get a room a week and a half prior to the reunion?
My room overall was ok, the bathroom vent looked as if it had not been cleaned in a year and I am not sure what was growing in the faucet for the shower...(looked like mold).
One family member wanted to use the heat, not working. The iron was not working either.
I must say that Kristen was awesome during my check in. I had a family member from CT who arrived at 5am Saturday morning and Krista worked very hard to get her into a room quickly. Robert was helpful and pleasant as well.
Mr Ray Battles...what can I say. This gentleman assisted our family and for his help I am so grateful. We had a family cookout on the hotel grounds and his help made things go much more smoothly.
Our family likes to have a small church service before family members depart for various destinations and he provided a place for this as well.
The entire staff was awesome and all the employees that we encountered (too many to name) were genuinely friendly and helpful.
