“Very nice stay for a group of 12 golfers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2009

I stayed here 2 nights with a group of 12 golfers. We came to Williamsburg to play some of the local golf courses.

The hotel was perfect. Great Location for our purposes. Very Clean well appointed rooms. The breakfast was good - very convenient for the large group - people could eat whenever they got up & got moving.

Within walking distance of many restaurants - which was nice.

The pool was nice - they have a hot tub but it is jetless - it still felt great after playing 36 holes.

Check-in & Check-out was a breeze - very friendly front desk

I would definitely stay here again when I come to Williamsburg.

Location --- right on main road with other hotels and restaurants; easy to find
Check-in --- quick and easy; able to check in early
Room -- king bed room; clean; nice firm bed, which I like; rollaway brought in; barely fit
Breakfast -- plenty of choices; sadly, understaffed as things were almost always out including coffee; noone to clean tables that others left without throwing trash away
Pool -- looked nice; good size; did not use
Staff -- everyone we talked to were friendly
stay again -- sure

We stayed here for four nights. When we arrived the rooms were not ready so we were upgraded to a suite. Impressed until we saw the bathroom. The staff needs to clean better!!! But that is not the hotel's fault, staff comes and goes. We will let management know before we leave. Breakfast is not that good unless you just want a danish and coffee so we ate out every day. The location is great. The front desk staff is very friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We checked in to this hotel after the one we were staying at wouldn't let us extend for two more days at the same rate.

I have notjhing but good things to say about this hotel.

The room was clean, the bathroom was clean, the sheets were clean, the pool-and it's area-- was clean, the hallway was clean, the elevators were clean.

Lobby, and other public areas I saw were new looking. Staff was friendly and seemed happy.

The continental breakfast was above average--very close to full hot breakfast.

The hotel parking lot was well lit and appeared safe.

Eating establishments close by--several within walking distance

I would stay here again in a minute.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2008

My little family of 3, just got home from our stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Williamsburg. We stayed Friday Thru Tuesday. I booked the trip thru Marriott.com. Our original reservations was for a room with 2 double beds, a basic room, with the rate of $119.00 a night(4 nights). Problem number 1: I guess I forgot how small double(full-size) beds were. My 6yr. old son and I, tried to sleep in one bed, while my wife tried to sleep in the other. MISTAKE. Not only was there no room in the bed but THE BEDS WERE FIRM!!!!! They were ok to sit on, but unless you enjoy your mattress firm, find another place to stay. My wife got very little sleep for the 4 nights we were there. I did ask for a different room soon after we checked in and was told there wasn't anything else. However, on Sunday afternoon, I was able to get into a King-Suite for no extra money. This king-suite had a king bed with a pull-out sofa bed, 2 tv's, 5 disc cd-changer, a closet, and the king bed was seperated from the sofa area room. Bathroom though was same as other room. (Nice size and comfortable), but the King bed was still firm. THE ROOM WAS NICE THOUGH.
Problem 2: When looking for hotels to book, we all take for granted that when we read ads that say "Indoor-Pool" that the pool is heated. NOT THIS ONE! COLD COLD COLD! The pool was big, they provided small towels, but with the air-condition blowing cold air into the room where the pool was, made the temperature even colder. We were able to withstand about an hour or so in the evenings and that's because my 6yr. old wanted to be in there. After day 1, my wife said "no way". I'm a hot natured person, and the pool was too cold even for me.Luckily, there was a hot shower in the room.
As for the free breakfast, it was always too crowded and we seen that they only provided coffee and orange juice to drink so we chose to walk 1 block to Dunken Doughnuts. IHOP is also about 300 ft out the front door of the hotel. The location was great. All the retaurants you will need right on Richmond Road, but next time, we will go back to the Courtyard Marriott on McLaw's circle, it's closer to Busch Gardens anyway.

My husband and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn due to the good reviews and decent price with military discount!

The room was overall really clean. The room does provide a refrigerator, which is a nice bonus. The free contential breakfast was suprisingly good, with much variety. However, there is a I-HOP in walking distance from the hotel, which was a plus!

One minor problem. Our bath tub wasn't draining the first night. The next day we told front desk and they fix the problem ASAP. Also, the bed is a litte on the hard side!

My tips- Ask for a room on the 4th floor in the main building or as high as possible.
Don’t take a room on the lower level of the side building as that seems like
The basement and is not as clean and inviting.
Beware of the rooms near the pool and breakfast area as kids run past your rooms at
Night to get to the pool making lots of noise. Also the rooms near the pool seem
To be in sub standard condition (mold perhaps). There are 2 free internet stations
Which are great. There is a free breakfast which has the typical waffle station, sausage
Biscut, bagels etc. which is fine. There is a free coffee machine near lobby 24 hours
Nice touch. Overall this property is fine. The service was average to above average
Depending on the person. The sheets had stains as did the walls (yuck) If you need extra towels or bath tissue etc- Don’t call for supplies- just go to the front desk and ask as they stock it there- allot quicker then calling.
They have free tide detergent if you need to do your laundry which is $1.50 per load
To wash and $1.50 to dry. There is a 24 hour Walgreens ½ mile south of the hotel
And the hotel is within a 2-5 minute drive of several restaurants. It is about a 5-9
Minute drive to Colonial area, 10-15 to Bush Gardens. So compared to other local
Hotels and comparing the average rates – this is a good yet un-inspiring option.
My Advice is to check in as early as possible and before bringing all of your
Stuff to the room – go check it out and make sure its acceptable as some of
The rooms are in better shape then others.
