“Beautiful Belle Hearth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2006

The Belle Hearth Bed and Breakfast was delightful! From the wonderful breakfast to the warmth of the owner. The room was exceedingly clean and the entire house was beautifully decorated. The whole house was very cozy and heartwarming to come back to after a visit to Monticello or to nearby Staunton for dinner and theater at the American Shakespeare Center.
It was a fantastic weekend and a spectacular way to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary.

My husband and I stayed at Belle Hearth for 2 nights in June whilst on a holiday from England, travelling up the Blue Ridge Parkway and then the Skyline Drive. This was such a wonderful find on the internet! We would recommend Belle Hearth without reservation. Everything was perfect and a joy to return to in the evening. I wish we had stayed even longer. It's only a 10 minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway so we were able to go back there on our 'day off' and walk part of the Appalachian Trail. Linda and Wayne couldn't do enough to help us and we were made to feel like long lost friends - which almost turned out to be the case as we had apparently lived in the same town in England as Linda once upon a time, so there was a lot of reminiscing. Oh and the day we left, we were just a few minutes into the Skyline Drive when we saw a black bear!

It is difficult to imagine a better spot to stay when visiting Charlottesville, Monticello, or all the great antique malls this area is famous for than Belle Hearth. The owners are gracious and truly devoted to their quests' comfort. The Victorian surroundings have been lovingly restored and filled with period antiques. A "comfort area" is provided for guests, complete with coffee, tea, bottled water, snacks, etc. Downstairs jars of home made chocolate chip cookies await. Breakfast is absolutely something you must experience, and each day you stay features a different menu. The rooms are comfortable, lavishly furnished, and all feature en-suite facilities. We can't wait to return!

My wife and I stayed here on our way to Nashville. It is a beautiful property furnished with a lot of antiques from England. It is in a very nice neighborhood for walking, with lots of churches, victorian houses, and even a nice YMCA a couple short blocks away where you can get your workout in. The proprietors are very nice folks who enjoy sharing the history of the house and their experiences in the B&B business. The front porch is a great place to relax and the bedroom was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was special, and the other guests very pleasant company.

We used the Belle and Hearth as a base for our visit to Monticello and it is close enough to make this a very viable option - even a wise choice. We would have liked to stay an extra day or two - maybe next time.

  • Liked — attractiveness, inside and out
  • Disliked — on a street that was very busy in the early morning morning

The Victorian home & garden was a museum on it’s own. Linda & Wayne are welcoming hosts and have interesting stories about the history of the turn of the century home. You can browse around the exquisitely kept home for hours and still notice new and interesting details. We stayed in the Rose Room, which was bright and very comfortable. The many fireplaces are all have different personalities to fit the space. The gourmet breakfasts are events to savor. Each morning we were treated to an array of yummy treats, which always included fresh fruits and home, baked items. The presentation with fresh herbs and flower garnishes could be featured on the cover of any gourmet-cooking magazine. My husband and I also enjoyed the large front porch & private pool to relax from a full day of hiking and sightseeing. There is much beauty in this area to see and this B&B is definitely the place to stay

I agree 100% with Paul's comments. Quiet location. Victoriana everywhere, delicious out-of-the-ordinary breakfasts, great hosts. Nice and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
