“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

This lovely inn is perfect in every way, from the beautifully kept public and private spaces to the quiet location. Our room (Mountain View) was spacious and nicely decorated, with a large, well-appointed bathroom. As other reviewers have noted, the proprietors go out of their way to ensure that guests enjoy their stay, offering assistance, ideas, and yes, even wine or port at night in addition to the wonderful breakfast. But Kevin and Jay are low-key and manage to make guests feel welcome and comfortable without compromising our privacy. The setting, just a few blocks from downtown on a dead-end street, offers gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and numerous places to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings (porch, large yard with outdoor seating, cozy living room, breakfast room, etc). As a bonus, the Inn has some interesting works of art, including some of Kevin Adams' pieces, and guests can sometimes visit Kevin's art studio across the street.
The Inn ranks among the best hotels we have visited in the world, and we highly recommend it.

“Outstanding Inn, Amazing Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Gay Street Inn for a combined birthday/anniversary trip to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and we could not have picked a better place to stay. Kevin and Jay were outstanding hosts with a keen attention to detail, such as their putting out port and chocolate every night in the library for a night cap. Jay's breakfasts were amazing with generous servings of fresh fruits and one of the best french toasts I've had in ages. Kevin was a great resource for local info on hiking trails and eateries, beating any concierge at a five-star hotel. We stayed in the modern country-style Bradams Ridge Room, which was clean, cozy, and comfortable, including a nifty double-headed shower. The inn also has a wonderful garden where you can sit and read or chat. We certainly look forward to staying here again!

“Excellent Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We stayed at The Gay Street Inn for our anniversary. It was quiet and peaceful and an easy walk to the Inn at Little Washington. The proprietors were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The Inn was beautiful and our room was large and clean. The bed was the best I have slept on in any hotel or B & B, firm and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. Next time we hope to have more time to peruse Mr. Adams's art studio and gallery across the street. We highly recommend this Inn.

Room Tip: We stayed in the first floor Garden room. It was very nice and had a very comfortable bed.

“Complete Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

What do you give your cook-omnivore husband for his 60th birthday? Why, dinner at the Inn at Little Washington of course. And with the Inn 70 miles away, I booked us at the Gay Street Inn for one night. I've stayed at a number of inns, but none as comfortable as this...and I mean more than physical comfort - I'm also referring to a comforting sense of security that we would be well cared for, and we were.

We had the Shenandoah Suite, with its king bed on the ground floor, complete with kitchen. Would be the perfect place for a multinight stay. Comfortable bed, lots of closet space with great lighting, and a beautifully modernized bathroom.

Kevin and Jay were beyond hospitable, offering assistance with visiting a neaby distillery and where to find a light lunch ahead of our 9 p.m. dinner reservation. Delicious cornmeal pancakes for breakfast with coffee, juice, date bread and fresh fruit. This is a beautiful, well-kept home that I would happily return to again. Thank you both for making our birthday weekend so special!

We are so happy to know that we met these guests' expectations, and that we were able to contribute to an enjoyable birthday celebration. We absolutely love sharing with our guests the attributes of Little Washington and Rappahannock County that made us want to move here when we first visited. Honestly, it is fairly easy to provide guests with enjoyable things to do, because our area has plenty for nature lovers, foodies, bikers, hikers, art lovers and antique hunters.

“Charming Inn, Wonderful Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

This place is adorable, clean, and wonderful! Kevin & Jay made a great place even better with their hospitality. We came to town to eat at The Inn at Little Washington and decided to pick another spot to stay. Great choice! Kevin met us on the porch wit beer and wine and gave us his thoughts on dinner. We walked to dinner and back and returned to Gay Street for a nightcap. Thanks again to you both for a wonderful night (and for the loan of the cuff links). I could not recommend this wonderful place more!

Room Tip: We were in the Mountain View room and it was perfect!

We are delighted these guests enjoyed their stay, and the wine. We serve only local Virginia wines because we want our guests to have the chance to sample the really outstanding vintages produced here. Like any wine-producing region, Virginia produces some wines that are better than others, but the really good Virginia wines stand right up to the best California, French and Italian wines, and we are proud to share them with our guests.
