As a weekend getaway, we chose the Foster Harris Bed and Breakfast in Washington, VA. We were fortunate to book the upstairs suite. It was very nice, and tastefully furnished. The suite offered an excellent view of the mountains, and we especially liked the attention to detail in the choice of sheets, pillows, blankets, silk/cotton towels, and the rain shower.
The owners, John and Diane MacPherson, were excellent hosts. Upon arriving, we were generously supplied with bottled water and glasses with ice, served on a silver tray in our room. Wine was offered before dinner and Port after returning from the nearby Inn (a 5 star).
An upstairs coffee service was provided at 7 am preceding the breakfast at 9:30. Having coffee in bed, looking at the mountains is an excellent way to start the day. The breakfast was a five course event and certainly qualifies as one of the best all time breakfasts.
The Foster Harris House is certainly a place we will visit again.
