“Wonderful alternative to Inn at Little Washington”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2011

My husband and I were returning after 23 years to the area for dinner at the Inn at Little Washington. Due to the high prices we were looking for alternate lodgings and hit a homerun with the Blue Rock Inn. The Inn was extremely charming and the staff was outstanding. We arrived after the "big snow storm" and the Blue Rock still had it leaves surrounding the place which made it beautiful. The gardens and pond are perfect for just sitting out reading and relaxing. The staff were A+ in making us feel welcomed. Excellent wine and appetizers were brought out upon our arrival. The common rooms are decorated very nicely and are warm and comfortable.

Our bedroom was decorated nicely and the bed was very comfortable. When we sat down for breakfast we did not know there were two courses so be sure to leave room for the main entree. Food was both plentiful and delicious. We only wished we had more time so we could eat in their restaurant.

If you are looking for a nice and reasonably priced B&B during a visit to Washington VA th Blue Rock is perfect.

Don't miss this hidden treasure! Mati Miller, the Inns proprietor has updated the farm house into a warm, comfortable, desirous weekend destination overlooking a peaceful pond, vineyards and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains behind. Each bedroom is beautifully appointed, comfortable and spotless. The upstairs bedrooms open through floor to ceiling windowed doors onto a wrap-around deck. The to corner private sitting, reading and sipping sites to take in the gorgeous vistas. Below are the cozy patios adjacent to the grass mall and horse farms. Each season brings the its own special blend of colors, foliage, and scents. There is a pub, multiple seating lounges and a truly delicious well-valued gourmet restaurant directed by Devin Bozkaya, a once sous chef at the nearby Inn at Little Washington. Service abounds from extremely helpful staff. Don't forget the dozens of cellars, wineries and distilleries, fantastic hikes on and off the Skyline Drive, Luray Cavern explorations and exciting finds in the local "antiqueries", Plenty to do for 1 day to a week for ourselves, kids and non-athletic friends. Breakfast was delicious and filling with great conversation from our Inn-mates. We have already made plans for our return to snow-shoe and sit by their fireplace.

Room Tip: Corners and west side rooms are the best view of the mountains, pond and fountain, vineyards and hor...

We just took our first trip to Washington, VA and decided to stay at the Blue Rock Inn. Not one complaint. The room was elegantly decorated (no gaudy wallpaper or frilly bedding). The food was amazing in taste, quality, presentation, and price. Breath taking views and friendly, warm staff. This will be our new favorite getaway! Not too far of a drive from the D.C. metro area and the trip was well worth it. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend this perfect retreat located amongst many fine wineries.

Room Tip: View the rooms online. All good choices.

Last month I returned to the Blue Rock Inn with my husband. My parents and I enjoyed it so much last year, I was looking forward to sharing this wonderful place with him. It was no surprise to me that he loved it as much as we did. We slept great in the comfy beds, ate wonderful food and enjoyed the surroundings. The staff was friendly and helpful again. I'm sure we will be back for another visit.

Room Tip: They don't have a pool.

What an upgrade this B & B has had over the past couple of years!! We had a WONDERFUL experience over the farm tour weekend in September. Our room was comfy, clean, and country feeling with modern updates with a nice breezeway and porch so we could enjoy the fresh country air (we stayed in the Chardonnay room) There was so much to do with the suggestions of the friendly and outgoing staff that we stayed constantly busy with activities and exploring the well manicured lawn and watching the polo horses nearby. I would highly recommend this B & B, but please make sure you save room after the yummy country breakfast so that you can try the casual pub and elegant dinner fare, the food is amazing no matter where you dine. You will not be dissapointed!

Room Tip: I truly loved the Chardonnay Room.

We arrived this evening in Washington Virginia for a special evening tomorrow at the Inn at Little Washington.I had made a reservation tonight at the Blue Rock Inn... However I was nervous in light of the TA reviews.
Our experience tonight was lovely. It was a beautiful night so we chose to eat on the porch overlooking the pond. It was amazing. Service was attentive and the food, most of which was locally grown, was delicious. We are foodies and have been lucky enough to eat at some of then finest restaurants. the Blue Rock Inn offered beautifully presented , locally grown food that was a real treat. We really had an enjoyable night and would not hesitate to return

We love this B&B!!! Excellent service, beautiful rooms and a pub and restaurant with excellent food.......what else can you ask for? Oh wait, the grounds and view are delightful! We spent an evening at the pub, then chatting with a glass of wine by the pond. The next morning the breakfest was fantastic. You can't go wrong with this place. Our favorite B&B in Virginia....period.
