“Not up to par....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2010

Check in was okay, girl was nice, but we requested adjoining rooms. We ended up going back down to the checkin to resolve this issue The room was clean, but noticed the room was not cooling, so we checked the air filter. It was filty. Called front desk and they sent someone right away, but the room still did not cool (for our comfort). They have a cooling frig for snacks which is a joke. It does not cool unless you put a ice bucket in it which takes up your space. Restaurant service (breakfast buffet) just okay (nothing special). Service slow when trying to pay. The pool was closed due to health dept. This disappointed my granddaughter as this was a celebration get together for her. The lounge was great. The bartender(s) especially Jessica was extremely nice. Parkling was a nightmare due to a high school prom which was at the Hotel. The rate was reasonable $119 per night. Convenient to nice restaurants. Maid service was off, did not give any coffee refills and did not make beds Coffee pot is a single cup deal which is okay, but need more condiments. I may stay here again, but is not a Westin I am accustomed to.

We stayed at the Westin VA Beach Town Center last weekend for two nights. The hotel is just 15 minutes away from the airport in Norfolk and is within walking distance of several upscale restaurants such as Ruth's Chris and McCormick & Schmicks. A performing arts center is directly across the street from the hotel. We were given a room on the 15th floor and had a nice view of the city below. A big plus is the free parking in the public parking structure adjacent to the hotel. The people at the front desk couldn't be more helpful and courteous. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

We are glad to see you enjoyed you stay and all that our Town Center location has to offer. We also have a great restaurant called the Lucky Star for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving up award winning Crab Cakes. We hope to see you again.

Great Hotel! Very convientient to the Sandler Center where we spent most of our time at a dance competition. Many great restaurants within walking distance including Cheesecake Factory. Clean, and spacious rooms. White linens on the bed, multiple pillows, down comforter...very comfortable. Hotel desk was very helpful with directions and check in. We wish the pool would have been more heated if it was at all. Parking garage had hotel entrance from each floor which was very nice and convienient. Would love to come back and stay again.

Thank you for sharing all your positive comments. Being just across the street from the Sandler Center, the many restaurants in the area, and the free parking combined with our efforts to consistently give excellent service all contribute to creating a positive Westin experience for all our guests.

We look forward to having the opportunity to serve you again on your next visit to Virginia Beach!

We have fallen in love with Starwood hotels and have switched over to trying to use only Starwood hotels (particularly Westins) while traveling. We took a night off to head to the beach and booked at Westin VA Beach. The hotel, itself, was beautiful and had all of the amenities of a Westin. However, the customer service lacked due to poor staffing. We stood in line for 20 minutes before being able to check into our room. When we arrived in our room (on the SGP floor), we immediately called the front desk because the smell of mildew was OVERWHELMING. The front desk attendant apologized and stated that she would send someone up right away with keys for a room down the hall. After a 15 minute wait, no one showed up. My spouse went downstairs to pick up the keys and they stated they were sorry. The second room that we received still had the smell of mildew but not too overwhelming. The room was clean, the beds were typical Westin beds (we love them), and the rest of the hotel was clean. The smell in the room was overwhelming.

In-room dining (breakfast) was very poor for the price. We normally enjoy the Westin breakfast because it is quick and convenient. We were disappointed when my partner received poorly cooked and cold eggs as part of her $20 breakfast.

It bears the name Westin, but doesn't live up to the standards that you expect from a Westin. We got the room for a very cheap rate as a last minute trip, so we can't complain but so much. We have decided that when we go back to VA Beach, we won't be staying here.

We stayed in this hotel during the winter of 2008, so it wasn't crowded and a beach vacation wasn't the reason we were in Virginia Beach. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. There are plenty of great places to eat in the Town Center, including a Cheesecake Factory. Great hotel to relax in during the colder months of the year, but if I was going to go to VB for a beach vacation, this hotel is just too far away, but probably 100% nicer than the hotels you will find on the beach.

As my stay in Virginia was partly military business and leisure, I noticed the hotel suits both purposes. My first impression was very positive, free parking with an elevator to the hotel lobby, fast and friendly service from the hotel staff, and a very oversized nice room (deluxe).

Drawbacks: Westin are good at ripping you off by charging 9.95$ per day for wireless internet, 14.99$ + tax for movies. The room had a stupid ventilation system, the heater made a lot of noise, so I had to turn it off during night, and then I woke up to a freezing room. Took several minutes to get hot water out of the tap (12th floor).

Overall a good experience, but wireless internet for 9.95$ is a joke.

I was very pleased with my recent stay at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center. The best part of my stay is the Westin Work-Out Room --- you can have a tread mill or spin bike brought right to your room! What a way to cater to women travelers who may not want to venture down to the gym.

Hats off to the Westin for promoting good health while traveling!
