“Great amenities, room layout, beach location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2008

Loved the Fairfield Inn. Great room layout and beach view. Top marks for quality, cleanliness, and customer service. Francesca at the front desk was especially helpful and pleasant. Great location on the beach. Covered parking right on site. Would definitely go back and would recommend it to others traveling to VA Beach.

Only suggestion I have is to replace the fake egg patties with normal scrambled eggs... Can't complain too much, since it is free... but the OJ and the coffee (get the lobby version vs the breakfast room version...) were the only items I could eat. There are tons of restaurants in the area though... so no one will go hungry. Centrally located on the "strip." Close enough to the "happening" places to walk there easily but not hear the noise in your room.

All in all, I was impressed.

We were in town for the sand soccer tournament, and the location was perfect. We could watch some of the games right from the hotel balcony. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good and they had coffee in the lobby all day. We were able to park our van in the garage and walk everywhere we needed to go. Great place to stay, will stay there again next year.

  • Liked — It was right on the beach.
  • Disliked — A little pricey and originally required 3 night minimum stay.

WE STAYED 06/01-06/04 2008, we traveled with our 13 year old and his 13 year old friend and our 5 month old. We got a suite so the boys did not have to be to quiet at night with the baby. This was an surprisingly great trip. we will never vacation at Myrtle Beach again after going to Virginia beach. The hotel was very clean the staff was the most helpful with directions and resturant referrals. This hotel is very family oriented from the Cabanas out on the beach to the bike rentals right next door. It is very under commercialized which is a great thing. We enjoyed the outings such as Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, Chessepeake Tunnel, as well as going to the Oceanic Airstrip (right down the road) and watching the F-16 and F18 touching down. I felt free to let the kids walk to the arcade and ride bikes something I will hardly do at any other vacation spot. I give this a two thumbs up!!!!

My wife and I spent our wedding night here before heading to our honeymoon last year, and this year we decided to return to it to celebrate our anniversary. This is a great hotel. Not quite perfect, but very good.

The front desk staff is always warm and welcoming, and has always answered any questions we've had while staying there. When we got to the hotel this year, our refrigerator wasn't working. After visiting the front desk to see what could be done, we had a new one in the room in less than 20 minutes. My wife left her sneakers in the room after we checked out, and the housekeeping staff sent the shoes to us in the mail at no charge. The staff at this hotel really goes out of their way to provide excellent customer service.

The rooms are nice. Having a balcony that looks out onto the oceanfront is great. The Heat/AC unit does more than enough to keep the room cool. The beds are nice enough, and housekeeping had our room nice and clean at check-in.

The breakfast is nice in the morning. Cereal, muffins and danish, bagels and toast, eggs and a breakfast meat, fruit, plenty of juices, milk, and coffee. It's really convenient to be able to head down to the lobby and have a hot breakfast to start the day.

The only complaints? The fitness center is small and only has four machines. I know that not everyone exercises while at a hotel, but some people do. It would be nice for it to be a little bigger. The pool is also not the biggest in the world, and had some sand in it, but what do you expect for a hotel right next to the beach?

Overall, this hotel has always provided us with everything we need. Very convenient, easy to get to off the interstate, helpful, and plenty of parking. It's also very affordable in the offseason. Definitely a good place to stay on the oceanfront.

This was a beautiful hotel with great access to the beach. My boys enjoyed playing in the indoor pool while it was raining outside. We liked the bright decor, and the front desk staff was helpful. I would happily stay here again during the off season, but doubt I would pay full price in the summer. The breakfast was good, my boys said they had the best donuts of their trip, but the food quality was really about the same as most hotels serve now. Another plus was the large balcony that we could all fit on.

My husband, son and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Saturday, April 19th for one night. We arrived at 11:30 a.m. and were able to get our room right away. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant and also left a voicemail message in our room to make sure everything was okay. Our room was clean, did not smell musty or moldy and everything worked fine. We went to the indoor pool and while small, it was fine. The hotel is very centrally located at the beach. This is, of course, not a 5 star Marriott but for a Fairfield Inn it was fine.
