My wife and I went to the Swan Terrace restaurant for our first time today, 7/5/2014. Our only regret is that we had not tried it before. We will definitely be coming back again.
The service we received was great. We had the pleasure of having Karima Darren as our waitress. Even though it was just her second day working at the Swan Terrace, she new the menu well, and she provided us excellent service, as did the other attendants assisting her, who together made sure that our meal was served as soon as it was ready, keep our beverages full, and made sure that we were never lacking for anything that we needed.
Our dinners started out with an excellent amuse-bouche for each of us.. Each had 2 large shallops with bacon and 1 large shrimp with a spicy balsamic vinegar reduction, and toasted bread with fresh shaved parmesan cheese. The chef, Darren Scott, came out to see how we liked it. We let him know that we thought that it was excellent.
I ordered the chefs special for today. It was a Surf and Turf. It came with both soup, salad, crab legs, a lobster tail and and filet mignon. All were excellent.
The filet mignon was supposed to be 4 ounces (it was actually was more like 8 ounces). It was very tender, cooked perfectly, and was very flavorful.
The lobster tail was large, probably 10 or 12 ounces and cooked perfectly.
The crab leg was also large and excellent.
The surf and turf also came with risotto, asparagus and sautéed mushrooms. All cooked perfectly and large portions.
As you have probably figured out, this surf and turf is intended to feed 2 people. I took the other half home with me.
My wife ordered the honey glazed baked chicken with duck fat french fries that she thoroughly enjoyed. She had the beet and goat cheese salad. She said all were great. She also had her favorite dessert, a freshly made creme-brûlée, which she said was great. She also took half of her dinner home.
A very fine, home made, hot pumpernickel bread with currents and raisins served with butter came with the meal.
All of the meal was prepared very eloquently and gourmet. We were could not be more pleased with the meal, or the service.
The restaurant was formal, quiet, very roomy, and had a great atmosphere.
We will definitely be going back again.
We have found our new favorite local restaurant.
