“Extensive menu, great friendly service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Love their extensive menu and their daily specials, eat there are least once or twice a month. Nice salads, soups and full meal menu options. Wait staff is extremely friendly and give great service without hovering. The fried shrimp or flounder dinners are very good, come with 2 sides and cornbread. They are on special lunch right now on Wednesday and Thursday. I often take clients there for lunch and all have enjoyed. The booths are very comfortable and you can carry on a conversation though they are usually very busy. Highly recommend.

“Not great, not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012 via mobile

Not actually a diner as it is located in a shopping center on Great Neck Road and has a full service bar attached. They usually have a chalk board with 3 or 4 daily specials and they are best known for their hamburgers. The she crab soup is pretty good but ask them to leave out the Old Bay if you can't do spicy. The fried clams are good as are the fried shrimp. Some basic pasta dishes and salads offed variety. They have a decent section of sandwiches and service is attentive. Typical family style restaurant decor in the dining area with tile floors and wooden tables and chairs. The owner of Atlas Diner also owns Chick's and the 501Grill both well known to the locals and both more highly regarded for their cuisine than the Atlas.

“Hit or miss....at best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

Been going to Atlas for over 10 years and for some reason keep giving it a shot....? Don't ask me why...maybe I'm forgiving.

Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible, but it used to be great....I'm still looking for that greatness to appear.

Burgers are good....salads are good....drink is cold!

Spouse had a asian chicken salad and it was a nice portion....well seasoned and hit the spot. Other guests had the burger, which are always standard. One guest even had the mashed potatoes with gravy....good stuff.

I ordered the fried shrimp which used to rival some of the best on the beach...and for those that know what I'm talking about (Steinhilbers) - it was a great alternative to a stuffy environment. But this night, I should have gone to "steinys" - the shrimp were light on the breading and just did not look that appealing....they have definitely lost their "wow factor"....

Will I go back... prob. so - as it's a great little place to take the family (e.g., kids)...but one day I'm waiting for the Appleby's sign to show up, cause it's lost it's local / beach flair.....too bad.

“Great Food, Steak was Perfect!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

Service was courteous and very fast. Started with fried shrimp tail appetizer which was excellent. Then came the Steak and Blue Cheese Salad. The Steak was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was also nice and menu was very reasonably priced. A must stop when in Virginia Beach.
