“Amazing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

I was moved to this hotel which actually has cell phone reception whichost of the ocean front hotels don't. Huge rooms with floor to ceiling ocean views.
Staff was friendly. Pool was clean and heated which was great for December swimming.

This would be a raving review, but I must start it out with the worst part, because it's the first thing we encountered. The hotel's parking garage is TWO BLOCKS AWAY, and as if the inconvenience isn't enough, you have to pay $8 a day for it! Let's be reasonable, it should cost money for the public to use it, but be free if you are staying with the hotel company that owns it. I was very surprised and disappointing with that from the get go.

Another issue we had (and this would effect nearby hotels as well) is the fact that gold key is building another hotel right next door, so we heard construction noise almost the entire day. Nothing like the sweet sound of waves crashing, and jackhammers hammering. I wouldn't normally count this against a hotel, but it's the same owners. I certainly wish they would have waited for winter months.

The next issue (which is minor, but mentionable) is that we never found a door that was direct access to the beach. Maybe we missed it, but from what we could tell we had to go out the main door, play frogger through the cars in line for valet, cross part of a road and then hit the sand. Not a long distance, nor a big deal, but seems like a silly design.

As far as the hotel itself, the room was great, the pools were excellent, the hot tub that seats 12 was a perfect temp (not blazing hot), and the staff was really friendly. Having a kitchen in the room was also excellent.

We did enjoy our stay, and had it not been for expensive & far away parking this would probably be a 5/5 review.

This would be a 5 star review if they had free

One of the best and most luxurious new hotels in Virginia Beach! The suite was extremely comfortable with a full kitchen, bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, and a bedroom with a balcony. The room also had 2 LCD TVs with blu-ray players and a device to hook up your hard drive/laptop if necessary. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions. I would definitely stay at Oceanaire again!

We arrived very early at around noon to some extremely accommodating and genuinely caring valet. We wanted to register our room to get parking and pool passes thinking we'd need to wait until check-in time. To our surprise, the room was ready! Sheena at front desk was great - although she was the only person at the front desk on both days of our stay. I think they could've used another person especially during the busier hours.

The one-bedroom suite was impeccably clean. Room amenities are exemplary: two HDTVs, fully stocked kitchen, etc. Although marketed as Ocean View, it has a VERY limited view from the balcony.

The resort-esque pool is very expansive, with both indoor and outdoor kid-friendly pools. The spa area also offers a relaxing and quiet time, with an infinity pool, hot tub, and outdoor campfire.

All in all, Oceanaire redefined for us what we should expect at Virginia Beach.

Room Tip: Ice machines are on even levels - if that's going to be important for you ask for a room on an e...

We stayed at the Oceanaire and overall, it was a very positive experience. The resort is nicely located and the facilities are immaculate as they should be for a newer facility. But beware of the overfriendly concierge staff who several time pushed for me to accept a free dinner and other freebies to make a tour of their new property next door (read: timeshare presentation). Fine idea for those who want to buy one, but I have been through others before and 3 hours would not be unusual for the pitch. Also there is an "adult" (over 21- enforced) pool area that has a jacuzzi so keep that in mind to not disappoint the kids. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite and yes, the king bed is closer to a queen size. Smart to confirm oceanfront versue ocean view- big difference. Ask for a corner suite- you will get the best view of ocean and surrounding areas.

it's our first trip to va beach and checked on trip advisor for different hotels in the area. i was attracted to this place based on the positive reviews, and from my friend's previous vacation photos from this place. This is a timeshare property but we paid on our own and this hotel is not cheap. We arrived just in time for the 4pm check in and we were checked in 30 mins late, after me and my husband complained that we had a long day, no apologies whatsoever from the front desk, and would not give us a time what time time our room would be ready-the first negative comment. Another negative comment would be that this hotel doesn't have its own parking space, if you are self parking, parking is one block away and the fee is $8; if you will do valet, it is $16, but very convenient because you don't have to walk a block away and get your car everytime you need it. We had an ocean front one bedroom suite on the second floor and the view was to die for, w/ the beach just a stone's throw away. This room has 3 flat screen tv's, 2 jet tubs and the dining room can sit up to 10 people. We booked for 3 nights. On our 2nd night, the fire alarm went off at 3am, it was a voice alarm saying we need to go out because there's a fire in the building. i immediately woke up my husband and 3 kids to get ready to go out, but i told my husband to call the front desk to confirm if it's a real fire alarm so he called the front desk and they said it was a false alarm. i was thinking- so why didn't they inform us, we were ready to get out of the room thinking that it's a real fire alarm had we not called them. so we went back to sleep then at about 5am, the alarm went off again, this time i called the front desk to confirm and they said it's a false alarm, and they said they already called engineering to fix the problem, no apologies from the front desk. then maybe 15-30 mins later the alarm went off again, this time i was really mad and called the front desk again, that's the only time i heard an apology from the lady in the front desk. I'm a real light sleeper and sensitive to noise so i heard every alarm that went off. The alarm went of and on every 15-30 mins up to 10am. I talked to the manager that morning and told her i refused to pay for my 2nd night. the manager said if im willing she could move us to another suite and the last 2 nights are on the house because of the inconvenience. We were moved to a 2 bedroom ocean front suite on the 16th floor w/ better views and better rooms. this suite has its own washer & dryer. but the time we spent packing & unpacking could have been spent on the beach or the pool. the front desk personnel could use a little more training on customer service.
