“Lots of Attractions”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Virginia Beach is much more than a visitor can imagine. When you visit New York or Miami or Chicago and any other large major city you know what to expect and you have high aspirations for your vacation. When you visit Virginia Beach you think about sun and surf and are either unaware of the many other activities and attractions of the area or you do not give them serious consideration.
Besides the boardwalk there are many more activities to do. There are the parks and the wildlife refuge. There is Town Center. There are hundreds of restaurants. Virginia Beach has museums and a calendar of concerts and other performances. It has an amphitheater.
The location of Virginia Beach is outstanding. It is in the Hampton Roads area comprising seven large cities and several smaller cities and towns. Within a half hour you can be in Norfolk or Chesapeake, or Portsmouth. A little while longer and you have Suffolk and Newport News and Hampton. Within an hour you can reach the historic triangle of Jamestowm, Williamsburg, and Yorktown. Each of these places and the other small towns and cities have a list of activities and attractions. Norfolk has minor league baseball and hockey teams and the Naval Base and other attractions.
There is plenty to do in Virginia Beach and the surrounding area. Tourists can return for many years before they see most of the attractions.

This beach is very family oriented. The area feels safe, even late. The town is clean and there are plenty of things to do.

“Clean, Wide Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

This beach has plenty of room to spread out. The sands are golden and the beach is wide. We placed ourselves around the 20th Avenue section in front of Ocean House Restaurant since we had just dined there and enjoyed it. There were many people out on a Sunday afternoon sunning and enjoying the ocean. The pier wasn't far from this area and we saw a pirate boat do a stop in front of us and do their gunfire drill and such which was interesting. The beach is really clean. You don't see any trash laying around anywhere. All you see is nice sand and shells. We really enjoyed our stay!

“Clean, pretty, good sand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Sand is groomed every morning and seems to be kept very clean. No trash or seaweed. The sand is soft and thick.

“Beach, City or something else?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Virginia Beach is a separate city/county. It is far more than only the few blocks along the Atlantic Coast known to most tourists seeking sun and surf. The Town Center is several miles inland in the business district and is well worth visiting for the numerous fine restaurants and shopping that even offer free parking. Drive US 58 (Virginia Beach Blvd) for even more choices.

VA Beach is home to a large military population and those jets that normally fly off of aircraft carriers. It is home to golf courses, channels, rivers, lakes and navigable waterways. There are boats everyway. It is wilderness wetlands and home to numerable permanent residents and vacation rentals. All you're ever need is available in VA Beach.

The weather fickle and varied. Expect and plan for heat, humidity, sun, wind, rain and even a little snow. It is very popular in the summer tourist season, which worsens the already heavy traffic at rush hours. With ship yards being nearby, shifts vary greater and traffic can begin before 5:00 in the morning and last until 7:00 in the evening. I-264 is the lifeline between VA Beach and Norfolk, the Naval Bases, ship yards and other destinations. Plan your time accordingly.
