“Labor Day Weekend 2011-Loved the Belvedere!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2011

I am a big time Tripadvisor fan. I was planning a family vacation to Virginia Beach for Labor Day weekend and a few days more. I kept reading the Belvedere reviews on Tripadvisor and felt I could not go wrong booking this place. We stayed in the double bed oceanview with balcony room. The room was clean and spotless. Everything you needed...Nice plasma tv, micro, cold refridge, plenty of towels and toiletries, clean white linens and down comforter, plenty of drawers and closets, chairs and table, a/c, etc. The Belvedere was right on the boardwalk/ocean. It was great just being able to go out to the balcony or leave the screen door open and listen to the waves at night. The hotel had a great little coffee shop where we ordered room service every day while we were there. The service and food were delish. The patty melt was the best ever! The pool was open from 9am-10pm and always plenty of chairs. The hotel has an elevator also. But, besides all that, the best part was that the staff was amazing. That is key to a successful hotel. This place puts all the new hotels to shame. The service is above and beyond. At one point during our stay my little boy discovered the electrical outlets and the owner came up with electrical outlet plugs, so he would not get hurt. I was very impressed with that. All the staff from Tyler, Daniel, Justin, Pam, Lee, David, all the ladies and gentlemen at the coffee shop, cleaning crew, and anyone else I forgot to mention were great! Thank you again for making our first stay at Virginia Beach the best ever! We definitely will be back and definitely stay at the Belvedere!

As a family from the Boston area we have recently discovered Virginia Beach and have now made it our annual trip at the end of the summer.

The Belvedere is perfect for us because of the location close to the beach and the great staff that they have. The owners are on site every day and it shows. Sure, you could go to one of the larger hotels in the area, and feel like you are in any large hotel anywhere on the planet. We choose to return and will again next year.

The on site coffee shop is still great, but we have opted instead to go explore other options for breakfast and were happier with those. Pocohontas pancakes as an example I thought was a better option right across the street.

Clean, good management, friendly staff, and great location (all rooms have a fantastic water view). That is about all there is to it.

Stayed at The Belvedere recently for the first time and will be shouting praises from the rooftops. We stayed during hurricane Irene and the hotel and staff were more than accommodating and kind. The hotel was superbly clean, with comfortable beds and incredible views. The attached coffee shop was perfect for breakfasts with delicious food and great service. I will recommend this hotel to everyone; it was absolutely the best stay at a hotel I have ever experienced.

We visited the Belvedere in 2010 and had a wonderful time. As the 2011 summer started to fade, we were looking for a place in Virginia Beach again, but were thinking that we might like a place a little "newer." High prices drove us back to the Belvedere, and our hesitation to book a room due to the old bedding and linens was removed when we learned that the Belvedere had all new bedding, linens, and flat screen TVs. We were welcomed with the same friendliness and warmth from the staff as we were last year (contrary to some of the reviews I have read where people have complained about the staff, we have never experienced anything but helpfulness and hospitality). We are already planning a trip back to Virginia Beach next year, with the Belvedere as our hotel. Thanks, Belvedere!!
Just a note about making reservations - we tried to use the internet to reserve a room and because we wanted to stay only two nights, were getting messages that prevented us from completing the reservation. We called the hotel directly and were able to get a reservation for 2 nights (as opposed to the 3 night minimum on the internet) - keep the phone number handy and call if you run into a similar issue.

Loved this hotel! It felt so crisp and clean. Staff was very friendly. Free bike rental was a huge bonus. Quiet at night and excellent beds and bedding!
We had an efficiency and four of us had plenty of room. The balcony was larger than I expected and the view was beautiful. I will definately stay at The Belvedere when we return to VA Beach.
The food at the attached coffee shop/diner is excellent. Well worth the wait and a perfect view of the beach.
We could not have been happier.

It was our first stay at Belvedere Beach Resort hotel and we selected it mainly because of the good reviews on ‘Tripadvisor.com’ and lower prices compare with other VA Beach oceanfront hotels. This is a small older hotel, parking area was very small, we had a problem to park our car after we arrived, but hotel stuff helped us to locate a parking spot. I asked for the room at the lower floor during booking on-line, and hotel personnel ( David ) reserved a first floor room for us. He sent us an e-mail to verify our request. Our room was located just across the small outdoor pool and near the coffee shop. The disadvantage of this room was a noise from the pool at the evening . We have a small son, so he had a problem to fall asleep with this noise. There were a military jets flying very low above the hotel during weekdays, which was a discomfort for us. But room was clean, and hotel location just steps from the beach worked good for us. Hotel has a very small lobby, so one day, while waiting for a cleaning lady to complete cleaning our room , I was in the lobby waiting with our 2 year old son, and it was a lack of space for him to walk or play there ( we didn’t want to wait outside in the summer heat). Hotel rents beach chairs and umbrellas for less than a company directly on the beach. Every morning I walked to Starbucks on 31 street, so it was a nice walk. We ate breakfast at the coffee shot on property, ordered to go. Service was pretty fast and friendly and food was good. I noticed that that coffee shop always busy, so you better try to visit it just after opening at 7 am.
