The entire staff was informative, helpful and gracious. The room was clean and roomy enough for 3 ladies and all the stuff we must have! We had great weather, so we never had the opportunity to utilize the pool, but it looked inviting. The restaurant on site was a nice touch for dining surfside---food was good and the owners were a hoot. We plan to visit again next year.

I will not go so far as to say this is a bad hotel I just think that for the prices they charge you could take your money and get a lot nicer just one street back and in some cases even oceanfront. When we checked in it took 15 minutes for the guy at the front desk to stop talking to his friend on the phone and acknowledge us. Even then he did not help us, what I am assuming was the manager helped us. We were promised a top floor room (8th or 9th floor I can't remember now) and when we checked in they had us on like the 4th or 5th floor when we told them we had requested and been assured we could be on the top floor (our daughter loves being on the high floors) the person who booked us had said that was no problem and even given us the floor and room number we would have. That room was no longer available. The room was outdated and moderately clean. The kitchenette had no utensils or dishes. The mini fridge had the knob broken of it to keep people from changing the temp (yes that was purposeful and not a fluke). All our food was frozen solid the first night we stayed. When we called the same manager guy came up and used pliers to adjust the temp and then of course it was too warm but we did not feel like complaining again. The pool is so tiny it is cramped when 6 people are in it (3 of the 6 were kids!). You feel like you can't move around because you don't want to splash people who don't want to be and it was also very cold. The maid service left a lot to be desired they did not really clean in between check in and check out more like went in a put out clean towels and kind of made the bed. My daughter accidentally scratched her arm and got a little blood spot on the bed so I immediately put water on it and when we left that morning I made sure the maid would be able to see the spot, they just came in and made the bed back up anyway. Did not even give her clean sheets. Parking is HORRIBLE!!! The hotel was noisy and really not as clean as I would have liked. But I do have some positives. If you just HAVE to have a oceanfront hotel the location is very good and the balconies are very nice. They also have a porch area that you can go and sit on that has chairs and umbrellas to sit with. I really did not feel that we got our monies worth on this place. I am not saying I would never stay here again it just would not be my first choice.

the hotel was very accomadating,they allowed us to check in early. The rooms were clean and the accomadations were comfortable. the only thing we did not like, were the homeless people hanging around the hotel asking for money. I spoke to the desk clerk about this problem. I was told they were harmless. In the evening they were frightening! I think the hotel should be more pro active about not allowing this people to panhandle for moey outside their business.

We choose The Capes after reading and comparing Trip Advisor review and we were very pleased with our choice. We stayed from Sept 3rd to the 10th. Very nice hotel, great location, great view, but the most importan, it is very very clean. The kitchen area was suffisant for us.We brought our coffee, filters, cups, toaster, plates and ustensils and we had breakfast and light lunchs on the balcony. The housekeeping lady made a good job, we never missed anything. From now, when we will return to VA beach, it will be at The Capes only.
