“Well Run Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

This is an old facility, not very modern in small elevator and outdated carpet, but we were pleased with our 3 nights there. The reviews from TripAdvisor influenced our picking this place from hundreds of others.
King bed was very comfortable and the jacuzzi a nice addition for tired muscles after days on the go. Location is indeed great and the free parking a plus, as we walked everywhere. We thought the noise of street and boardwalk would be a problem, but was not at all.
The cafe breakfasts were very reasonably priced and so good. The absolute best part of this hotel stay was the efficiency and friendliest of staff. It seems like one big family run business, and they care that you have a good experience. We adored our waitress, Samantha, in the coffee shop- what a nice plus to have a cheerful teenager waiting on early morning folks with lots of smiles.

Spent 4 wonderful days here. Ginger greeted us when we arrived and she was wonderful. Our room was available right away. 602 was perfect. The restaurant Perfect! Jimmy was super. We forgot the name of the young girl that waited on us. She was sweet. Told us about her trip to Pittsburgh. We will be back. The whole stay was wonderful.

Spent 4 great days in Virginia Beach 7/24 to 7/28. I booked the Breakers based on the Trip Advisor reviews and the location. We weren't let down! We arrived in Virginia Beach around noontime, and after an 8 hr drive, it was very nice that we were able to check in that early, our room was ready. Room 802 was a king room with a jacuzzi. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bedding and furniture might be a bit dated sure, but everything is in perfect shape. While the bathroom only had a shower and not a shower/tub combo, the shower itself was quite spacious - you won't feel claustrophobic. The balcony is nice and gives you a great view of the beach and the pool below. Some reviews have mentioned the slow elevator and tight parking. Yes, the elevator could be slow at times and the parking did get full, but I never considered these to be issues. Didn't try the cafe while there but it looked just fine. The front desk staff as well as the maids were all extremely friendly, couldn't have been nicer. Consider this hotel a real gem on the boardwalk - right in the middle of things. We took nice walks a few times from our spot on 16th street up to the Neptune statue on 30th, it's a nice stroll. It's so nice being right on the beach, you don't have to haul all of your stuff a long distance to your spot on the sand. There are plenty of places to grab a bite or drink, or to buy cheesy souvenirs all within easy walking distance of the hotel. If I return to Virginia beach to vacation again, I will absolutely stay at the breakers!

This was our first stay at the Breakers and we were first impressed with the location. Check in was a breeze and the staff is very helpful and go out of there way to ensure your stay is a pleasant one. What every we wanted to do was within walking distance from the hotel so we could not have picked a better spot. The room was clean and comfortable with the only average being the bed and pillows. The pillows were very soft and the bed not that comfortable but after being out and about all day we slept well. I will recommend the Breakers to my friends and family and will be back again soon.

This was my third visit to the Breakers, and every time has been outstanding. The staff is friendly, and the price can not be beaten. We had a king room with a balcony and whirlpool--very nice. Everything was clean, and the housekeeping staff was very accommodating. The location is fantastic, with everything in walking distance on Atlantic Avenue and the boardwalk. We enjoyed rising early to see the sunrises, and our evenings were spent strolling the beach or enjoying the entertainment on Atlantic. Upon our arrival, a personalized letter (personally addressed to me) was waiting on the desk in our room. After returning home, I received a "thank you" email--again from the owner and general manager. These may be trivial, but the personalized contact was greatly appreciated. I love spending time at Va Beach, and the Breakers Resort is quickly becoming my home-away-from-home.

As an added note, you really need to try the restaurant--nice atmosphere, friendly hospitality, and not crowded. I especially enjoyed the crabmeat omelet for breakfast--very tasty.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms over the pool--due to the layout of the building, rooms of the pool can sometimes have a...

I was very impressed with the cleanliness of our room, front desk staff were nice & friendly, location is perfect. there are bikes to use for free for guests, a nice plus. We had a great time, if I absolutely had to complain, the parking lot is small, but really A++
