“A Memorable Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Princess Anne High School Class of 1963 recently had their 50th High School Reunion at this hotel. The entire weekend was extremely pleasant. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was very helpful with the events. We were pleased to have the same staff personnel to set up our banquet rooms both nights and work with us to make sure we had just what we needed. Now the food... the food was superb. We had so many compliments on how wonderful the food was and what a great variety of items on the menu. The sales staff went out of the way to make sure our event was a great success. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is planning an event. They make life easy.

Room Tip: All rooms are suites and have a beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay. No bad room in the hotel.

Thank you for your nice compliments about the Princess Anne High School class reunion that you attended. We were thrilled to help host such a fabulous event and are glad to see everyone had a wonderful time. We’re glad you enjoyed the food and the variety of items served. Our chef also provides delicious menu items at our Tradewinds Restaurant, so feel free to come back again and see us. We’ll be sure to pass along your nice comments to our staff as well. Hope to see you again, and please stay in touch: Facebook.com/VBResortHotel

My wife and I spent a night at this bayfront hotel and were extremely disappointed. They way
they charged you would expect 1st class service and 1st class rooms -- we got neither. I had
requested a king bed and instead got two uncomfortable doubles. I called the front desk after
getting to me room -- they said they would check and call back within 15 minutes but I never
heard from them. Coffe was in the room but if you wanted an extra packet it was $ 1.00.
Internet service was $ 9.95, toothpaste was $ 2.00, etc. The tvs in the room were Phillips
and had to be at least 10 years old -- ditto for the furniture. Supposedly this independent hotel
was part of "leading hotels" chain but I can't imagine what they were leading. Can't imagine
AAA would give them 2 stars, much less 3. Very disappointing!!!

Room Tip: Trip for a bayfront for the view

The only positive of this hotel is the location. This hotel is in major need of renovations. Penthouse had black mold in bathroom and a leaky shower. The walls are thin, so you hear everything! Beds are hard and pillows are terrible. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

Stayed for four days for my daughter's wedding. Our first room had so many stains on the couch, (unknown origin), we asked to be moved. The hotel accommodated our wishes and moved us to a room with an unstained couch.

The mattresses were like sleeping on plywood and the pillows couldn't be worse. The microwaves have dials. When was the last time you saw a microwave with a dial? Late seventies, early eighties? These old units have to be leaking microwaves. We chose not to use it. The TV's are about the same vintage and small. I do a lot of traveling for business and I can't remember the last room I stayed in with a tube TV. One of the two remotes I had was broken.

I think the blowdryers were installed just after the blowdryer was invented.

The WiFi is $10 per day and you have to purchase it through ATT. On subsequent days my WiFi went down which forced me to waste way too much time in the ATT phone-tree maze trying to get it connected again. By day three I gave up.

The carpet was so filthy, my white socks were black on the bottom within the first 2 hours. Whatever they use on the bathroom floor tile makes the floor so slippery it's downright dangerous.

The pool and spa chemistry was so bad that it hurt to breathe in the pool room.

In summary, uncomfortable beds, horrible pillows, antique appliances, dirty rooms, below-average amenities and no free WiFi at a premium price. The only reason to stay here is the location.

Also were scheduled to stay for a soccer tournament, which was cancelled due to a storm, the hotel still charged us for half of our non-existent stay. No offer was made to apply this to a future stay, or any apologies or understanding over a cancelled weekend getaway over something completely beyond our control.

We can sympathize with you about the untimely decision to not move forward with the soccer tournament as it made a huge impact on many people and establishments. With the quick decision and cancellation of the tournament, our hotel upheld the agreed upon room cancellation policy that they were booked under. After having time to reflect on the entire situation, we have decided to make some concessions to those impacted by the unfortunate cancellation. Our hotel will be in touch with you directly regarding this topic.

Our son had a soccer tournament which was canceled due to weather. We were told by hotel we would still be obligated to pay.. we are there for the kids and the hotel was very rude and unwillng to refund us the money a day before we were heading to Virginia. We will stay at a hotel next time that worked with other teams that got their money back because of weather and cancelation of tournament.

We were scheduled to stay here while our children participated in a Columbus Day weekend soccer tournament (Saturday and Sunday). Due to the extensive rain, the fields were not playable, and the tournament was cancelled on Thursday. We immediately notified the hotel to cancel our reservation, but they charged us for the first night anyway. I didn't even get talk to someone. Not only was I charged for a room I never used, they didn't even offer a discount on a future stay. This hotel will definitely not be an option if we ever consider visiting Virginia Beach again.
