“GREAT SERVICE ,CLEAN AND THE BEST VIEW ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2011

I have been going to Virgina Beach Resort on a regular basis for business. I would have to say the hotel and conference center Is well kept.Every one on the staff is their to assist your every needs. Every thing you need is under one roof .The Trade Winds Restaurant has great food and the chefs are the best around.
The view of the Chesapeake Bay is one of the best around.
If you want all of the beach with out the crowds this is the place to be.

We wanted to let others know how much we enjoyed working with the staff of the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel for our daughter's wedding recently. Everyone was helpful and extremely professional. The beach wedding was fun and the reception was great. We enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. We feel that this place really has their act together. Nice place with a semi-private beach--not too crowded.

For my daughters wedding which was canceled oneonta Hatress Island due to Hurricane Irene we booked 10+ rooms. We were given a group price of $149 butah found cheaper rates oneonta internet which manager would not meet so we booked thru internet. List of problems. Broken ice machines oneonta 4 different floors. Very slow elevators and half of the lobby ones did work. Rooms very old and stained from floors to walls. Rain storm made two rooms leak thru balcony doors. Breakfast order not complete and not fit to eat. Shuttle reservations messed up twice. Front desk personnel very rude. The only thing that worked was the maids. Also the hot tub had scum and the sauna had mold.

recently attended a wedding reception at this property it was by far the worst experiance that I have ever had.
1. The A/C vent was dripping on the Table
2. There was no food for over 2 1/2 hours
3 The food was unrecognizable there was 3 protiens, mash potatoes, steam vegatables, and salad.
a. I opened a steam tray and saw what I thought was chicken, got back to the table and found out that it was pork. Another person at the table sat down and cliamed that he thought the turkey was delicious. We all had to tell him that it was actually pork.
b. The tuna was so over cooked that it was dry and could not be eaten
c. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and hard
This was an understaffed event and the there was not enough service lines for all the guests. I believe that there were over 200 people. If the family needed advice that is what the catering sales staff should have done. As a guest I felt not one thing was done to accomodate this party. Overdone food poor presentations and a simple lack of caring showed through at every turn.

We just returned from a three night stay. Hotel is badly in need of a major upgrade. Rooms are old and the sofa was dirty and had holes. Shower rod was rusty. Bed spread had major stains. They advertise Wirelss internet then charge $ 9.99 a day . Hot tub was full of foam and you could not see the water in it. Found a large bug folded in our bath towel. I was resting in our room half naked and some strange man opened our room door. Felt sorry for him for the ugly sight he saw. Thay sold our room to him also. Pictures on the internet are very misleading. Halls are very noisy. Walls are thin. Do not stay there. On a side note cell phone service in the hotel sucks.

Room Tip: They are noisy

My wife and I go to Virginia Beach on business twice a month and enjoy staying in this hotel very much. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds have been recently replaced and provide good restful nights. The kitchenette facilities make it very convenient to eat in the privacy of our room when we choose to stay in. The Tradewinds restaurant located in the hotel has excellent food, my wife and I have enjoyed many great meals by ourselves and with friends. This hotel is situated in a prime location in the city. It is not in a crowded area and there are many other great restaurants nearby. The bay views are beautiful. We enjoy inmensely our walks on the beach. The hotel staff is always friendly and helpful. It makes it easier to be away from home knowing that we have a warm, clean and inviting place to stay during our frequent trips to Virginia Beach. We highly recommend it.

My son and daughter in law signed a contract for a block of rooms for guests at their wedding. It took several calls to the reservations desk for my daughter to get through to reserve a room. They finally took her number and said they would call back, but did not. My son reserved a room weeks in advance, confirmed the evening before and when he and his new bride got there, after the wedding, were told they had no reservation. Understandably upset, they were also told by the front desk that it wasn't their fault or their problem. ( Their exact words) Every experience with this hotel was unpleasant-and yes, it is really outdated and shabby. We are not people who normally complain, but this was the one disappointment during a wonderful wedding for 2 very special people.
