5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Two weeks ago we decided to just drive to Va Bch no reservation made and we can not find any room and the rates was so high. around 3 am we stop at this hotel Royal Clipper In, Dante who work that morning he told us the rates still very high but better rates we found sofar. Dante offer us good discount rate because its 3am. he also gave us king sized bed with nice view. We sopke to the Manager the next morning to let him know what Dante did for us, but we call Dante late at night we ask if his Manager talk to him, his replied was no ,why, whats wrong is anything wrong in your room just let me know so i can fix it. Dante is very nice he was concern about the guest at the hotel. We did tell him that we talk to Manager abourt his good customer service the manager should talk to him after we let him Dantes excellent cusmer service. We are going to stay at this hotel again, Clean and good customer service. Thank you Dante for your help and excellent service.

Clean rooms. Nice friendly employee's. A short walk to the beach. Close to restaurants and shops. Refrigerator, microwave, Wi-Fi and DVD included at a real good price. All you need for a great beach get-away.

My wife who is usually picky actually liked this hotel. After all it was a bargain considering we came the week after Labor Day and got two night for the price of one compared to the name brand hotel across the street and on the beach. We figured we would walk the 50 extra feet for the $50 a day difference. As for the hotel it was not new and shiney, but older and had obviously been here a while. But our room was clean, had a mini fridge and DVD player! Small complaints about water pressure, jet noise and minor street noise. Great area for tourist with tons of restaurants, gift shops and miles of clean safe beach. Bottom line, I recommend it for price & location. But if you have the bucks for a nicer place, keep shopping.

Room Tip: We can see the ocean from our door & window!

Great value for the money. Small room, but very clean - new carpet, freshly painted walls. Refrigerator and microwave in room - no coffee maker, but free coffee and juice in the lobby. We could see the ocean from our room, which was a nice surprise. Free wi-fi and a dvd player! Friendly check in person.

Room Tip: Make sure to say you don't want one of the rooms across from the elevator!

Right on bus line. Very easy to get around
The pool is very Small but clean
The only coffee is in lobby
Room are decent size. Old fashioned with updates. Service staff is very unprofessional and rude
But the rooms are sufficient for price

So you get what is to be expected for $100 when everything else is twice that

Booked a month in advance for 3 nights over labor day weekend with my wife. When checking in, we were told "unfortunately your room is right in the elevator lobby". We saw the room (door and windows right where elevator opens up) and went back to see if we could switch rooms, and were told no because there were no open rooms. We asked again the next morning as we were talking to a staff person who told us there were in fact several open rooms. The front desk indicated that because the room was "dirtied" i.e. we slept in it, we couldnt switch.

We were also told that the open rooms were for people with reservations, but our apparent reservations a month in advance didn't count. The vacancy sign was still lit and we heard then taking a new reservation for that night over the phone while we were talking with them. The people at the front desk were not friendly at all and gave a lot of attitude, as if asking to switch rooms was the most outrageous and horrible thing we could do. Not a single apology, but rather it felt like they were trying to shame us.

We understand this is a budget hotel, on a holiday weekend, but we were kept up until 4 a.m. listening to college kids partying in the hallway in front of our room. Lots of drinking, smoking (which filled up our room) and shouting. When we brought this up, we were told by the front desk that it didnt seem that loud to them. On our third night, we packed up and checked out at 4:30 am due to the noise. We had to walk through the party to get into the elevator.

The location and price were good, but such poor management and service would make me recommend staying anywhere else but here. Avoid this place, but enjoy the beach!
