Has anyone ever stayed at this hotel at Virginia Beach? This is where we stayed this week and had the absolute WORST hotel experience EVER! It all started when we had absolutely no where to park to check in and unload our belongings. After parking on a sidewalk, I ran in to register. The lobby was packed full of people who all looked VERY, VERY annoyed, and hot. I didn’t really pay any attention, and got at the end of a very long line. EACH and EVERY person in line in front of me had a different complaint that they were voicing to the receptionist. One lady was coming down to get her towels that she had requested over an hour earlier, and still had not received. Someone else was requesting a new fridge, as theirs was no longer working. Two different people were asking to have their rooms changed as the AC wasn’t working. I noticed a lot of people on the couches, who looked very frustrated. Later, I realized that they were in there to soak up the AC, because the hotel lobby was the only one place with air conditioning. Being the optimist that I am, I paid no attention to any of these complaints, and didn’t think that our experience would be bad. I felt kind of out of place, as I excitedly registered and got our room keys, as everyone else was clearly perturbed. As we walked to our room with our luggage, everyone noticed our two month old and frowned at us, letting us know that the AC unit had been out for the last 4 days, and that all the workers just keep telling them that it would be back on in 30 minutes. After brining ALL of our things up to our room, we realized that our card key was not opening our door. We tried it several times, before my husband went down to let them know, so they re-programmed it for him and he came back. It still did not work. He did this 4 times, each time it still not work, and they just kept sending him back up. He eventually asked for the actual metal key to the door, and they told him that it didn’t work. Someone in the lobby told me that they kept giving that room to people, and the keys didn’t work for any of them, and they always had to send them to a different room. We got a different room, and of course it was on a different floor, so we had to gather up all of our things and go to the new room. This room did not have AC (75% of the rooms did not), when we walked in, the thermostat said 82. By the end of the evening it reached 85. We unpacked, and thought for sure things would be fixed, because after all, they told us it would be back on in 30 minutes. We walked out the beach, and spent the evening out and about. The AC was still down at 4 in the morning and we were all drenched in sweat. I went to the front desk and told them we absolutely needed a new room, because our room was unbearable and our two month old shouldn’t be in such a hot room. A man at the desk showed me a room on the second floor (we were on the 5th), and because heat rises, it was a little cool, although 75 was as cool as it got for the remainder of our stay. He did allow us to go in and get some sleep, keeping our things in our old room for the time being, so we didn’t have to move in the middle of the night. Not once did any of the workers or receptionists inform me about the AC issue at check in, or apologize for that or the key issue that we had. Our bathroom door did not shut, only one ice machine in the hotel worked, the pool was dirty (I had to keep using the net to skim and clean out things from the pool, so my 3 year old could enjoy swimming in it). The parking lot was down the street, rather than at the hotel. The ceramic tile floor was very hard on our feet, and we were constantly slipping and falling when it got wet, and the sand was even more noticeable, because of the floor being tile rather than carpet. The hotel was very run down and smelly. When we checked out, I asked for a discount, and the receptionist was very accommodating. She asked what would make me happy and I said at least half off our total, and she was able to do so. I actually think I could have said that I wanted all my money back, and she would have, but we did have a place to sleep for three nights and enjoyed our time at the beach, outside of the hotel. She was telling me how hectic it was this week, and how everyone was glaring at her and being mean to her. I told her that she probably needed a vacation and hopefully things would be back to normal soon. She said this was normal for this place and that the FOX show “Hotel Hell” had even called them before to see if they would be on their show. We really enjoyed Virginia Beach and are blessed to have been able to have a mini vacation with our family; however this hotel should probably be closed down, so everyone can go back to the drawing board.
Just don't do it.
