“B430 is a real bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We rented this unit for a week the first part of October 2013. it is a nice property, well maintained and easy to find. It is close to VB and an easy drive to lots of great places to visit. The unit is nicely decorated and the furnishings and kitchen appliances are very nice. The unit includes a space in the parking garage which is handy. The beach is great. This unit looks out on to the back bay and is a nice natural view. The beds were good and there are TV's in both bedrooms and the living area. All work well. We were there during a rather ugly weather run and spent one whole day doing nothing but TV.
The drive from the Norfolk airport is an easy run, even more so if you have a GPS. Less than an hour for us, but it was near 8PM when we landed.
It is a very easy drive to VB. It is also easy access to the other sights of the area, Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. Lucky us the shut down was in place while we were there so some of the sites were closed. You are 40-50 minutes from the very large outlet mall in Williamsburg which is worth the trip.
We have rented condo's for the last 10 years in many parts of the country and this one is managed a bit differently than any other we have rented. And it may have been because of the time of the year also. We had to pay $25 extra to have the beds made up on our arrival. They also advise you many basic items they do not provide, bathroom paper products, dish towels, garbage bags, etc. So we did stop and purchase all of the needed product on our drive from the airport. Oddly enough when we got to the unit many of these items were on hand in the unit. No big deal, we just left all the extra stuff for the next renter.
I was also taken back by the fact they do not accept credit card payment for deposits or final rent payment. They will for a large service charge. They will take a bank transfer. Never encountered this before.
The only real issue we had was the large population of sizeable spiders. Not real attractive. We did solve the issue for our deck by buying spray and exterminating them. It is an issue they need to maybe better deal with on a regular basis.
I would give this property a very good rating. Comfy, easy to find, great area, and a bargain price during the time we were there.
Phil

Our family of five simply loved this place! It was probably our best beach vacation ever. The condo was perfect. The beach was very clean. The resort consists of the last two buildings before a nature reserve. It seems endless. We saw many dolphins swim by every morning. Besides all the normal « beach stuff», there are many activites to be done, such as surf lessons and kayaking near the dolphins! Surf and Adventure provides lessons and guides. Most of their activities begin within a very short walk from the resort. I would strongly recommend this resort to couples and families with children or teenagers.

Room Tip: Every condo is different. The condos with a view of the Ocean are more expensive. Ours had a view of...

We recently stayed here for a week and liked it very much. The complex is a bit confusing with parking, elevators, and storage closets all spread out everywhere. However, after the first day we pretty much had it down. The condo we stayed in was B118 Crab Dip. It was what we expected from looking at the pictures online. Everything worked fine and we found it to be sufficiently stocked with cooking essentials and such. I was disappointed the carpet had several stains but it wasn't a deal breaker for us. I don't know if this is just because of us staying after the busy season. I would imagine when they turn the place over week after week there really isn't time to get the carpets professionally scrubbed. The furnishings showed some normal wear but overall were nice and satisfactory. The unit is poolside and located just steps from the kiddie pool. We loved this! Yes, we would prefer an ocean view, but we have twin toddlers and having this easy access to the pool and courtyard was great. We also visited the pool in Building A. It was just as nice and less crowded. It also had several shallow sections geared for little kids.
We were a little pessimistic after reading some negative reviews but we would definitely stay here again. A lot of reviews are about the spiders. Yes, there are spiders outside but we saw none in our condo at all. We saw people all day walking around and cleaning. The complex was always very clean!! Having a poolside room, I saw a young man every day cleaning the whole pool area before it opened. Another comment I have read over and over is about the radio. We only heard a radio playing by the Cabana Pool/Bar area....and it wasn't super loud. This was only on during the hours the bar was open.
I also want to add that if you have kids there is a nice playground in the Little Island Park next door. We walked down several days in the evening and let the girls run around. It's very close, probably a 3-5 minute walk. You can also walk down the fishing pier while there.

We took out family of 4 to this resort and stayed for a long weekend (Thursday-Sunday). We had a great time. We stayed in room 222A which was nicely equipped. The view from the balcony was of the front parking lot. The resort had 3 pools - one geared towards kids with turtles shooting water out of their mouth and a nice shallow end, one geared towards adults with a swim up bar, and one that could accommodate both. The beach was very nice. Not crowded at all and tons of beach to enjoy, unlike Nags Head with a very condensed and compact beach.

The fees charged by the resort were a bit ridiculous. It appears that each room is owned and rented individually so the resort charges maintenance fees. They charged a hefty fee for nearly everything (sheets, towels, etc) so we brought necessities to save money. They even charged around $40 if you used a credit card so we overnighted a cashier's check. The fees and charges make the rooms about $100 a night more than they advertise on their site.

The resort itself was quiet and offered everything we needed, a quiet place to get away and enjoy family time. You are about 15-20 minutes away from a grocery store and Target. We went in September and the place was nearly empty. If the resort was filled, i could envision the pools getting overcrowded quickly.

Room Tip: Make sure you bring necessities with you (towels, sheets, toilet paper, dish detergent, grilling ute...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Sanctuary at False Cap. If I may clarify. There are multiple rental companies for Sanctuary and we all work a little different. Sanctuary Realty @ Sandbridge does not charge for linens and never has. Yes there are fees but all that has been taken into consideration when pricing the units compared to hotels at the Boardwalk. Our fees are listed on our website under "Rental information" for all repeat and potential guests to view and read thoroughly.
We hope you will return to one of the best kept secrets of VA Beach soon.
Best regards,
Sanctuary Realty @ Sandbridge

Went here with my sister and her husband and two small children, for the Labor Day weekend. Beach is a short walk away, bar with a swim up bar pool right on property. Food was decent, got the snow crab legs deal. Service very friendly at the bar. The bigger pool was pretty kid friendly, very shallow and had turtle statues that squirted water. Nice grills by the pool, makes you think about getting some steaks. Lots of small kids in this place.

We were all surprised that they didn't seem to tell you some things that would make it easier to get settled, like pick up toilet paper, and paper towels. There were two handtowels in the kitchen but would have been easier to just bring own from home. Probably depends on the unit what is there. The bath towels supplied by the place were not there when we arrived, sister had to go hunt for them and she said she got several questions from the staff. We didn't figure out where the beach chairs and umbrellas were until the third day there, they're actually in the garage storage area, not the balcony storage area.

Got two parking passes even though we were told only one car per room so that was nice. Thought I might have to park somewhere else and walk. Check in was just some girls with a cart and check in materials waiting as you drove in.

Rooms are pretty decent, typical pastel motel type tones that are not offensive but not striking in design either. This unit had granite tops. Kitchen had most of the tools and plates, utensils, etc that you would want. Fridge had filtered water but no automatic ice maker.

Wouldn't mind coming back, basically. Sister and her family will stay the rest of the week. Think they will enjoy themselves quite a bit.

Our family of five, stayed at the Sanctuary at False Cape in Sandbridge Beach VA for a week in July. We rented a three bedroom villa and we were very happy. The three pools were never crowded and the ocean side pool is really lovely. The grill area and the swim up bar at the ocean side pool was a nice bonus. The only thing we did miss was a nice local coffee shop. We drove to Starbucks in the mornings, but the 20 min. drive did become a drag. We enjoyed the quiteness of the area and made trips to the boardwalk in VA Beach as well as Norfolk. My 9 year old had a ball at the chica surf camp with Surf and Adventures which was done right at the resort beach. If you are looking for a restful and peaceful vacation this is a great choice.

Room Tip: We had a bay view room which was much less than an ocean view room. The view was just as nice and th...

We stayed June 22nd- 29th in a beautiful condo with everything we could ever want. Ocean view, close to pool, and away from noise. Sandbridge beach was beautiful, a mini Outer Banks Vacation.
We went to Virginia Beach one night, great for the kids, kayaked the bay, went fishing in the refuge, and dined at the Baja also great for kids , 15 and 4 yr old twin boys. We'd go again!
I would ask the front desk if everything is working, arcade games broken, and they should offer more.
We also waited until last minute to get a better rate.
