The hotel is upscale with beautiful grounds. We booked the hotel through priceline.com and was given a room with one queen bed. When we checked in the lady at the front desk was very friendly and upgraded us to a room with two beds with no problem. Please note if you book through priceline.com you will be charged an $11/night resort fee at check-in. Priceline.com has stopped paying this. The hotel offers an indoor and outdoor pool, fitness room, and full service spa.

This place was only adequate...Yet it was kind of a nostalgic trip back into the sixties of what used to be considered luxury...However, speaking of trips it's twenty miles to the ocean from here. The staff were nice, but it was uncomfortable when the bellboy seemed to have been forced to help us to our room even though we had no luggage,
It was ok here...once.

My husband and I were looking for a little getaway without our toddler. We booked The Founder's Inn couples package that includes massages.

The spa was nice. We enjoyed our treatments. The hotel itself has very colonial decor, which is not our thing, but it wasn't awful. It just is what it is. Our room was clean. People were friendly.

Negatives:
The bellhop was pushy. We only had 2 small overnight bags and really didn't need or want any help, but we weren't given much choice. I just find that kind of annoying.

The outdoor pool was freezing. It's the end of June and it was not comfortable to swim in.

We had massages added to our bill when they should have been included. But it wasn't a big deal to remove them. Just a little annoying.

Walls must be thin. I was woken up around 1AM by people returning to their rooms and the sounds of a baby crying. The air conditioner in the room is very loud and goes on and off every 2 minutes. I saw some people don't like the soft beds. I didn't mind, but had a very hard time sleeping because of the air conditioner.

Last, we booked this for a couple's getaway. Wanted some romantic time. The staff did not respect the do not disturb sign we placed on the door and even when we told them to go away they came back five minutes later. It really sucked. How about calling first? Especially when someone has the do not disturb sign on the door. We were there for the couples romance getaway!!!!!

Altogether....eh. We were looking for something a little bit luxurious and private and didn't find it here, but I'm not sure that what we were looking for exists in the VA Beach area.

This would be a fine place to rest your heard for a night, but it wasn't what we were looking for.

W e arrived at 10:30P. The room was cramped and small. There was lint on the floor and crumbs in the bed. It was the worst hotel experience I've had in a long time.

My boyfriend and I had a great time at The Founders Inn this weekend. The room was nice and the staff was very friendly. We weren't as close to an actual beach as I wanted to be (about 20 miles), we had fun splashing around in the indoor pool. We didn't even mind getting lost trying to find one of the malls in the area! All in all we had a nice time and would stay again. Next time I'll get a spa treatment.
