I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend for a soccer tournament. The group rate was reasonable and the trip to the complex was 10 - 15 minutes.

The beds were full size and comfortable. There were 4 pillows per bed, which was a nice touch. My room did not have a coffee pot (missing), frig, or microwave. If the later were normal amenities, I did not ask for them. I was able to get an early cup of coffee each morning since the continental breakfast was out by 6am. It was very complete with a lot of food options.

The room was small, but clean. The only area starting to get a bit dated was the bathroom. It needed a deep cleaning and a new shower cutain. It was filthy, just needed some polishing up.

The pool was small, but it was well used by our group. I felt sorry for the other guests because a group of 2 soccer teams will take over an area like that. there was plenty of seating. There was even a HUGE grill for barbecuing.

The staff were extremely curteous and friendly. I would stay here again.

  • Liked — friendly staff, good continental breakfast
  • Disliked — bathroom needs some updating

My husband and I stayed at this property for 2 nights before Memorial weekend. We were in VA for my husband's business trip and selected this property since we're Marriott members and for its close proximity to the client's location. We checked in around 12midnight after a short ride from the Norfolk airport. It's located near the highway and close to shopping and some restaurants.

Our 3rd floor room was very basic and seemed a bit lower on the Marriott scale. The staff was very helpful though and the breakfast was plentiful with waffle machines, breads, muffins, hardboiled eggs, sausage and egg sandwiches, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, milk, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. The only problem we encountered was we did NOT receive our wake up calls on either day which caused my husband to be late to a meeting on the first day. We discussed this with the front desk upon checkout and they kindly refunded entire one night's stay, the more expensive one to our benefit. Keep in mind we did not ask for a refund and were hoping to get voucher or Marriott bucks towards a future stay.

We recommend this hotel if you're travelling on brief business, or as a stopover. It's not a hotel we'd consider for a vacation.

I stayed there with my bf for 5 nights in room 249. It was small but ordered and clean. Bathroom wasn't the newest and yet ok. Fridge and microwave were missing but they got us both once we phoned them. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and full of partying kids in the weekend. If you go there for business (like I was) it's nothing exceptional but fine.

Location: Fairfield Inn by Marriott [--] Virginia Beach, VA 23462
Date: July 5, 2006

On July 5th of this year my husband and I checked in the above property. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. The GM and staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate us. We had requested a non smoking room, however, the assigned room was not to our satisfaction. Once we brought that to the attention of Guest Services, we were given a couple of choices before making our final selection. There were a couple of minor concerns which were addressed without hesitation. After 24hrs or so, there was a mishap of concern which directly affected the room we occupied. Once again, the staff QUICKLY ushered us to a comparable room where we were able to be situated and become comfortable once again.

Our stay at the Fairfield Inn was pleasant and memorable for a number of reasons. They are as follows: The staff complied with our reasonable requests; the facility was clean not only in the rooms, but the general property was well cared for and maintained. This included a well manicured and landscaped outdoor space with a clean and inviting pool; The complimentary breafast was a treat which offered a variety of items including waffles hot from the waffle maker, and there again a smiling and willing staff availing themself to assist any guest that needed their service. Not only was the actual food pleasant to the eye and palate, but the dining room was also inviting.; There were also a number of snack and ice machines conveniently located on site with easy accessibility from any area in the hotel; There is a computer located in the lobby for use by their guests; Last but not least, this hotel is located near the interstate , parks, restaurants, the beach, airports and other recreational facilities. Although it is centrally located, once you return to the hotel it is quiet and peaceful which allows guests to unwind from a day of recreational or business acitivties.

We would definitely return for a stay there, and would invite travelers in that area to consider this hotel. Why, you ask? It is a reasonably priced hotel, coupled with cleanliness and comfort. It has all these amemities, because there is a staff that awaits the arrival of their guests, to make them feel comfortable while they are away from home.

Beware of The Take-Out Taxi!

Never EVER have I ever been disappointed by a Marriott property. I should have known when I pulled up to the door and saw the overflowing trash that this was not the place for me but it was late, and after the cancellation time, so family and I wearily went in. The lobby was undergoing some reconstruction so we stepped carefully around the debris that was all over.

We went up to our two rooms and upon entering, could find no light switch! After stumbling about, we managed to find one in the wash area. To our dismay, the a/c in our room was non-functioning and the window couldn't be opened more than a couple inches due to locks. Daughter called from her room saying the internet wasn't working. Called down to the desk to make sure we weren't charged for that service and to also inform the attendent of the problems with our room only to be told nothing could be done until the next day.

The next day we went out until evening. Called down to the desk to ask for a suggestion on take-out and were informed of the "Take-Out Taxi" guide that was in all the rooms. We decided on an order and called to place it. Imagine our surprise when the cost came to over DOUBLE the listed prices! When I questioned why, I was met with contempt and rudeness... "that's the way it is" "don't like it don't order" and other such comments. When I cancelled the order and told him I would be letting the management know he just laughed. I called down to the desk and the woman on duty said they've had complaints in the past, realize the books are outdated, and that they had been told by Marriott that the books needed to be removed... yet the general manager decided, for whatever reason, to leave them. A few minutes later, the general manager himself called my room and was just as rude as the man from the take-out taxi.

The next morning, I received my bill under my door and saw that the quoted rate was now doubled what I had booked it for. I immediately called down to the front desk and asked for either a superviser or the manager and was told that neither was on the site. I asked what the story was on my bill and she didn't know and also said there was nothing she could do about it. Luckily, I had kept records and brought them down to the desk. Asked to see my registration card and noticed that the original rate quoted was there. Only because of those two things was I able to receive the rate quoted.

Besides all that, I will say that the housekeeping staff was excellent though the hotel itself is old and in desperate need of major refurbishing... not just in the lobby/registration area. If you decide to go here PLEASE make sure you bring your confirmation with rate in with you and DO NOT ORDER FROM THE TAKE-OUT TAXI!!
