“My Honeymoon was fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2010

I loved the Wyndham. I looked at these reviews before we booked and was on the fence about the hotel, but booked anyway.

Iabsolutely LOVED my oceanfront view, the beach was wonderful and we weere about 20-30 blocks from the boardwalk, which was great for us. The hotel does have a n hourly shuttle and there is alocal bus that runs along Atlantic Avenue for $1 per ride or $2 for a whole day.

I loved that this hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk and is pretty quiet. There were a few families there, more families than couples, but when I booked, I told them we were on our honeymoon and they tucked us away nice and quiet.

The staff was okay, we really didn't interact that much. Be careful of the concierge, although she was really nice, she doesn't work for the Wyndham, she works for Gold Key resorts, she has great coupns and can tell you where to go, but be careful as she will point out gold Key businesses. gold Key Resorts rents out concerge desks in local hotels to sell business.

I also LOVE that this is a green hotel

The view was amazing, i saw the beach for miles, we saw dolphins in the water, sun set sunrise, just gorgeous, loved it, I woke up each morning and went right to the view, which often I ended up right down at the beach.

PROS:
Clean comfy room
Lovely bed huge king size bed, boy did I get lots of sleep without kicking my new hubby, he had enough space as well
Location (away from the boardwalk)
the beach is cleaner down this end, and more peaceful
THE VIEW WAS GORGEOUS!
The balcony we had was just the right amount of space
Free Wifi!
Free shuttle
CONS:

bathroom extremely small
The pools are reallylike two big puddles, not going over 5 1/2 feet but you can walk right on to the beach from the hotel so that didnt really impact my business
the gym is small
the hot tub is located in the sameplace as the indoor pool with only goes to 3 1/2 feet so there were kids, so it may not be as peaceful to sit and chill as you like.

I loved it here, it was just what I wanted and looked for. The TV was flat, free movies, micro and fridge in the room, and tons of activites for the kids.

We only paid $87 per night and the beach is right in the backyard. We had a double room, it was clean, comfy beds, nice tv, fridge and microwave, great shower pressure, nice indoor activity area for children. Unhappy with the size of the bathroom... two people could barely fit inside of it. The pool is very small. You have to pay $40 to rent an unbrella and 2 chairs on the beach... I wasn't expecting that.

Hotel is dirty and old. No one is keeping it up. Just running it into the ground. Dirty carpets, dirty windows in pool area , broken doors in pool area. Elevators dirty never cleaned the 4 days we where there. Pool not checked enough. Drain in floor broken and just sitting out so someone could get hurt. Best thing there was the young lady that cleaned our room she was great and did a wonderful job. Our room was 1708 walls dirty and ceiling dirty The spa is not checked enough and no one cleans the pool during the day. People who are not staying at hotel come into the pool area no one checks them this not good.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your stay. I do apologize for any problems you had while here. We're glad you enjoyed your room on top of the Tower. The views are incredible from that level.

Our pool and whirlpool are cleaned and vaccuumed every morning and the chemical levels are checked every hour and recorded on the public chart on the wall in the indoor pool area. The door to the pool area is locked except to card carying guests. Being located directly on the beach does facilitate lots of traffic from our guests who are coming and going, most often wet and sandy, from the beach and pool areas. Even though our elevators are swept and mopped at least three times a day, it sounds like you may have been in them just before one of their cleanings. We apologize for your having a less than pleasant experience and hope you give us another try in the future.

My husband and I decided to take a 2 day trip to Virginia Beach after dropping off our child at a college. We decided to stay at the Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront. BAD decision, the hotel is very dirty not to mention that people walk their dogs around the hotel and on the beach and more than a few didn't pick up the poop. We witnessed one guy just kicking sand onto where his dog took a dump. Needless to say, we didn't want to go on the beach. We requested another room after the first night because the bathroom had a bad leak from the sink and the shower did not good water pressure. I could not wait to leave to come home! Word of advice, spend the extra money and stay at another hotel.

I woke up in the morning to find tiny specs of blood on my sheets. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the blood came from multiple bed bug bits all over my arms and shoulders. So gross!

The Hotel room: the small fridge was positioned on a broken piece of glass (our daughter stepped on it bear feet!), brown spots on the carpet, we found small black bugs and hair in the bed, internet connection terrible, i was not able to open any website, they time out due to slow connection, the shower water was very slow, if you want it to run fast then you have to turn it towards the hot area and you will burn yourself...

The pool: is extremely small, dirty, still water... the water does not change constantly!!!

We took some pictures before we left (attached) - take a look at the carpet and check the pictures they have on their website, totally different!

Told the front desk about these issues and she didn't even listen... she did not say a word, not even sorry for the inconvenience!!!

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was quiet, but worn/run down. Safe lock was broke, faucet in sink loose, shower head had to be fixed, there were dead mosquitos on the air conditioner unit inside the room. Stairwells were disguisting! Also, this hotel is away from everything. It said it was close to the Boardwalk, not true. It was not worth $179 a night, that's for sure!
