“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We just returned today from spending 5 nights there and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was very nice and affordable. Since we got a smoking room, we were on the top floor and could not have been happier about that...great view right on the ocean; lovely breezes and relaxing evenings on the balcony! Something that was a bit offputting though: the concierges here are not employees of the hotel, they work for Key Resort and the discounts they offered one night (for jet skiing the next day) were not available the next morning. I assume it was because I stated I was not going to do any touring of their timeshare units. Other than the odd concierge experience, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed from 8/25-8/28. The hotel is nice and while not a five star hotel we were not displeased. The staff are quite hospitable there was no negative/stressed vibe. Parking is relatively ample. No complaints there. We drove from NY. I actually changed my reservation from the holiday inn next door, to this hotel. Glad I did. Reason being is; I didn't want to drive 7 hours and the have to wait and/or park off the premises. This hotel was more costly but I think it was worth it. The bed was comfy and a/c sufficient. The balcony is a nice touch. Only negative were the breakfast eggs; anyway there are Waffle Houses all around only a few blocks away. . We would stay at this hotel again. It was a restful break.

We have been coming to this hotel every year for the last 4 years. Some of the rooms are bit dated, but I have seen several updates. The hallways need to be updated. The rooms have always been clean. The views is fantastic, and the best price for the room we can find in the area, with oceanfront rooms. It is close to many restaurants, shopping and entertainment. I love that we can park our car and not move it all weekend. Saturday breakfast is goo, but Sunday breakfast could be a little better.

We stayed at the comfort inn & suites oceanfront on the 8th floor. The fireworks were right in front of our hotel window!! I loved the ease and accessibility of the beach just out of our hotel door. It was great to have the little refrigerator in the room so that we could store our leftovers from dinner.

We stayed there from August 26-30, 2013 and had a wonderful time. The location of the hotel is right in front of the beach and close to restaurants and stores. We had a two queen bed room which has a great layout and allowed us to put the kids to bed and still stay up late watching movies and continuing to have fun. Breakfast was good with waffles, yogurt, different pastries, bagels, eggs, bacon, etc and the hostess Bonnie was always smiling and wonderful. The guest relations staff were wonderful too, especially miss Mona and Samantha who gave us great tips and advice about stores and restaurants as well as coupons and discounts for local attractions and food. The only bad thing was the wi-fi which just doesn't work and think needs a better router or something. However, true to their wonderful customer service the technical staff did try to fix this problem and followed up several times. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed at room 501

We stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor. It had two queen beds at opposite sides of the suite. One room had a door that offered some privacy. A small hall connected the two bedrooms and contained the bathroom and a small counter area with a microwave, coffee maker, sink and small fridge. We arrived at 2 pm with check in at 4. Our room was not ready but we were given a parking pass and a key to access the pool and get back into the hotel if we went out to the beach. However there is no place to change clothes. We finally got into our room at about 345. It was spacious enough but we immediately noticed the extremely loud air conditioner unit behind a door in the room. And a strong mildew smell. At 400 dollars a night I expected a bit more luxury but it was very basic linens and bedding. Nothing spectacular whatsoever. The balcony had two chairs, there was five of us. We had 4 towels, there was 5 of us and one package of coffee that made 4 cups, there was five of us. We had to provide the names of everyone staying in the room to include the teenagers. Reason: they required names and room numbers at the continental breakfast which is a bit disturbing to me. One has to ask how many people are wondering around the hotel that doesn't belong there. We enjoyed our time at the beach but it would have been so much better if the accommodations were up to par with the rates. The staff seemed a bit bothered when we asked for additional towels and coffee. We again had to give our room number. Would I stay again...no. There are much nicer hotels in the area, I just can't wait until the last minute to book. The lobby is pretty with a lot of seating. They only have a small indoor pool. They do not have a restaraunt, bar or even a small store. But they do have vending machines. Some updating and deep cleaning is (mildew smell) badly needed. Spacious and nice layout is the only pro to staying.

We have stayed at this hotel for the past few years and are very pleased with everything about it. We actually started our vacation last year at the Country Inn and Suites a few blocks down but transferred back to the Comfort Inn since we were not happy with our room. We stayed from Aug. 18-23rd this year. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed that the lobby had been updated and it looks beautiful. We received great service from the front desk. We arrived about 12:45 and our room was not quite ready, but we left our cell phone number with the clerk and were notified as soon as it was ready, which was still an hour and a half before the normal check in time of 4:00. We were very pleased with our room. It was very clean and we received daily housekeeping service. My husband and I were able to have privacy in the bedroom, while our teenage kids hung out and slept in the other room. The view from the room is gorgeous and the hotel is located right in the middle of Beach Street USA, which provides tons of free nightly entertainment for all ages. We love Virginia Beach and we will definitely be back to the Comfort Inn and Suites again.
