This hotel meets the expecations as a beach front Hampton Inn. I'm used to staying at Hampton Inns for work, so this was an exception that was booked using my reward points. The room was nice, and also quite at night which was a plus. The elevator is about 100 degrees, not sure what that is about. The hotel is nicely situated at the north part of VA beach, close to the Neptune statue. There are a few places near by to eat, although I think there are more on the south side of VA Beach. I had long coarse black hairs folded inside the bathroom towels. It was not appealing. Otherwise, no complaints about the room what so ever. The restaurant there just plain is not good at all. So I suggest skipping it and finding somehwere else to eat. The food was dull, boring, and the waitstaff was slow and maybe just new to the job. Serriously, go find another place to eat near by.

Thank you for your kind words regarding the hotel! I'm glad you found the hotel convenient and the room nice and quiet! My apologies however, for the towels and the restaurant. The Housekeeping, Restaurant and General Manager have received your comments and are finding new ways to improve. Thank you again for writing a review and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

Have a great weekend!

The trip to Virginia Beach was worth it for the time we stayed the few nights at the Hampton Inn. We took the trip for a competition with my little sisters orchestra. As me and my mother walked into the hotel, we were greeted with smiles and a little sign welcoming me and my mother and sister upon her orchestra competition. Ms. Brittany Nosay welcomed us with local taffy that were in cups. She made sure our few nights at the Hampton Inn was comfortable and satisfying. The stay at the Hampton Inn- Virginia Beach (north), is by far the BEST hotel on the beach hotel! I highly recommend you stay here!!

This was our third hotel of our tour around Virginia and we would certainly come back. Check-in was efficient and we were in our third floor room in minutes. The room was light and airy and very clean. The view from our balcony, straight onto the beach, was fantastic; being able to sit outside and watch the world go by was a real bonus. The hotel is well situated at the northern end of the boardwalk,a little quieter than the other end.
We ate in the hotel restaurant every night. The food was very good;the servers were pleasant and attentive. The complimentary breakfast was also good, with plenty of choices. Other reviews have mentioned how items ran out - we were always down for breakfast quite early so didn't experience these issues.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sorry to move on; we would definitely make a return visit.

We stay at Hampton Inns pretty much every where we go. This is the 2nd time we've stayed at this one and its pretty much average. Most of the hotel staff is quite friendly and the rooms are clean - albeit dated. This hotel gets ALOT of traffic because it is in a very popular spot. I was very disappointed with the bar/restaurant though - staff is not as friendly and the last night we stopped down late for some food/drink and it was very slow - only one other party at a table. Our waitress (there were 2 working) got our order wrong and never came back to check on us or offer more drinks - I eventually ended up having to go up to the bar and request the bill. Both times we've vacationed there the restaurant was pretty slow - probably because of the service/quality of food. I should note that the breakfast area in the AM is really good - the lady that runs that was very friendly and the food was well stocked and maintained - especially considering the volume of traffic (very busy hotel). The pool area was not very clean - but we only went once because we were mainly on the beach. Rooms are very small compared to other Hampton inns. They only have a few "studios" - most rooms are not set up well for wheel chair or strollers.

Thank you for your review! We are so glad you stayed with us again this year, we look forward to many more! I am glad you found our staff friendly and the rooms clean, however my apologies for the restaurant services and their lack thereof. Our General and Restaurant Manager have received your review and are looking into the situation. This Winter our rooms will all be refreshed with new furniture, carpets and fresh paint and more to bring in 2015! So next summer come and check out the new rooms!
Thank you again and have a wonderful day,

If you are looking for a nice Hotel on the beach, this place is for you. This is a pet friendly Hotel which was one of the reasons we picked this hotel along with the balcony rooms. The only draw back is there is not enough parking. We had to walk three blocks to get our car.

The hotel itself was the standard Hampton similar to several others which my family has stayed at many times. We know it is not a 'Hilton', but there is a certain level of service and enjoyment expected when you are staying at any of the hilton brand hotel. Before this trip, I was happy to stay at Hampton for a relatively cheap family getaway - normally we use Hilton points (30,000 per night) to get a nice clean 2 queen bed room, nice pool and hot tub, and free breakfast for the family.
For this VA beach Hampton it costed 60,000 points a night, which I understand as a beach front property would be a premium... But with that premium I expected more not less. I liked the room (every room is beachfront with a balcony to enjoy) but I was very disappointed in the food service for breakfast. They ran short on food over and over. The beach was nice but the pool was dirty and the chemicals burned ours eyes terribly. The hot tub was nice when we got there on Thursday, but on Friday it was a (bath) warm temp at most. Saturday, it was scalding and too hot to sit in for more than 2 minutes.

The customer service at the front desk was horrible. Twice during our stay I had to leave the pool to ask the front desk if they could bring more towels to the pool area, and the second time the lady at the front desk (the manager btw) acted as if I was asking her to perform some monumental task. Another time, my wife went to the desk to ask about a restaurant to walk to and no one was at the front desk. There was a maintenance worker sitting in the door way to the back office and said to that same lady that a customer was in need of something... Well, she didn't come out for another 2-3 minutes. The icing on the cake... My wife heard that lady mumble to that worker how much she hated her job!
Two other things that drove me nuts - most of the workers were smokers and they sat between the hotel and the boardwalk so I we continually had to walk thru the smoke smell on our way to the beach. Lastly, the workers always seemed to be on their cell phones while working. The greeter at the restaurant, couple of front desk workers, and bartender. Poor service - probably due to poor management.

Don't stay here. Spend a little more and stay at the Hilton or Holiday Inn next door.

Room Tip: All rooms are beach front so there really isn't a bad room. If you want to people watch, choose...

Thank you for writing your review and your recent stay with us. I do apologize for the inconveniences in which you experienced here at our hotel. Usually our Breakfast Staff are very good at keeping the buffet well stocked, the pool and Jacuzzi are usually comfortable and clean. Sometimes guests will take the pool towels out on the beach to use, occasionally leaving the pool area short on linens. The General Manager has received your review and is looking into ways to improve so that this doesn't happen again. Thank you for your review and have a wonderful rest of your summer!
