This park is less traveled because the most beautiful part of it requires biking or hiking. You can park in the parking lot and walk over to the beach, but the park runs for several miles down to the North Carolina border. If you hike or bike, you can get away from everything and have the beach, dunes, and woods to yourself. I often bike down a couple of miles on trails and then walk my bike over to the beach. You can look in both directions and not see another person. It makes me think of what it must have been like a few hundred years ago before our population exploded to the beaches. If you plan your trip for low tide, you can mountain bike for miles down the beach. It's hard to imagine that the Va. Beach boardwalk and hotels are just 10 miles away from this secluded beach with nothing but nature.
