We have been RV camping for 10 years and have found great experiences are generally determined by 3 factors;great weather, your own space to enjoy the place without tripping over others and easy access to the campground and its amenities This campground provided all of those during a weekend in late September. It was our first time here and it was a last minute weekend getaway. (They were able to accomodate us for a full hookup.) This campground is surrounded on 3 sides by the Middle River and is marked by signs off I-81 but the signs are small so have your directions handy. Driving into the campground we found the roads to be well maintained and the place to be neat and quite beautiful. This weekend the campground appeared to be at about 1/2 capacity so not so many pople around and always a better time. Check-in was painless and during the entire stay all of the staff were always polite and courteous. Actually we found everybody here, whether guest or staff, to be extremely friendly! Most of the RV sites are directly on the bank or near the river. Most offer direct river access and/or views of the river. RV sites offer water/electric for the most part with a few offering full hookups and/or 50 amp service. The area next to the river is the most popular and the sites here are crowded offering little room for vehicles, etc... If you want more room and do not require river views opt for RV sites 1-13. which are all full hookup. (The river is within walking distance of all sites.) These sites are close to the store and the other amenities of the campground. We were in these sites and noticed mostly older RVers stayed in this area (not sure if by design but we appreciated this since we were without children for the weekend) The atmosphere was quiet here versus the family fun excitement at the river sites but the downfall of these sites is that they are right off the main camp in road and I think when the camprgound is full, privacy here with all the traffic, may be a problem. Most sites seemed to have some shade during the day and all the trees around really do make the area nice. The campground also offers many no hookup tent sites on the river banks and a scenic waterfall. We found the catch and realease pond to be well maintained and did catch several catfish. The pool was open as well in late September and many people were sunning themselves on the pool deck. The bathhouse/laundry/hot tub room building is located next to the tent camping sites and was always busy. I noticed this bathhouse did not have hot water this time of year but the main bath house by the store did (there was always a line in the morning here). We did not utilize the hot tubs as we think many tent campers use these as a shower especially because there was no hot water in the showers at this bath house building. Plus the hot tubs were always filled with young children. The 2 playgrounds are large, one being shaded and one by the pool in the sun. They had several different areas with bean bag toss, horseshoes and a basketball court in addition to a putt-putt course, a cafe, a small store (although well stocked with camping stuff). Since it was after the summer season I cannot offer an opinion on the summer activities although if this campground was full, it would be like most places, busy, lots of people and probably not very peaceful as we found it in September. The best feature was the gentle bunnies hopping about and we got a kick out of them coming into our site and begging for food. You can buy bunny food at the camp store. They kept us entertained especially since we do not travel with our pets. TV was basic 13 or so channels and the WI-FI was very fast. Overall an incredible experience offering everything we needed for the weekend without needing to pay resort camping fees as we have had to pay in the past at other places. We will definitely be back.
