We visited Urbanna for July 4th, looking for a quiet respite from a hurried and busy year. Urbanna fit the bill: not a lot happening but picturesque and central to the Northern Neck area with a number of attractive small towns within easy driving distance.
We stayed at the Chesapeake Inn and were pleased to see that although from the outside, it is a pretty standard small suburban hotel, it offered beautifully designed and upgraded rooms, obviously intended to compete with B&B facilities. The hotel is in the middle of town (though Urbanna is no metropolis) so we could walk to restaurants and the town dock to see the fireworks. The managers were friendly and worked hard to make sure we were properly cared for. Almost forgot to mention that the hotel offers covered two and four seat peddle surreys to get around the area.
