After a morning of bird watching, we were hungry for lunch. Since it was a beautiful, sunny day here in Virginia, people were out and about and lunch stops were very busy. We had passed the Barn Door BBQ earlier in the day and thought it could be a good lunch stop--and it was. They had two styles of BBQ--North Carolina and Texas, along with ribs and BBQ chicken, with a selection of side dishes--potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, mac and cheese. The platter comes with a main dish and choice of two sides. The portions were very generous, the food very good, and the service fast and cheerful. There aren't any tables anywhere, but next door is a concrete foundation just right to sit on. It looked like most people were getting their food to go, but we decided to take "a seat" and enjoy the sunny day. The BBQ operation is inside the Upperville General Store and is open seven days a week. The BBQ operation offers a catering service as well.
