“Outstanding Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Most memorable service in ages! As frequent international and domestic travelers, this experience stood apart.
From the concierges, Rudi and Erica, to all of the Shuttle personnel, and Vincent the Manager/Sommelier of the restaurant, it was the the utmost!!!
Can't wait to return.
Truly a special place.

After a hard day of travelling, checked in, ordered room service, started to watch a movie, then someone started pounding on my door,Yelling, "open the door" "open the door". I looked to see a man standing there informing me he was hotel security and there has been a noise complaint. I refused to open the door, in this day and age you wouldn't! My TV volume was on 24 and it goes to 70, so how this is a noise complaint is beyond me. The manager said its after 10 and they could hear the TV, when you can hear people talking in the hallway. I travel every week and have never had such an experience in a hotel. Just terrible! Get a grip Ritz Carlton.

I stayed here on business and appreciated the quiet of the hotel and the great gym (for a hotel). The common areas -- and getting around between them and the adjacent buildings -- are a bit confusing with the lobby being on the 4th floor and the corridors not being well-labeled with signs to direct you to the lobby, mall entrance, etc. If you are staying here on business for the first time and need to get to one of the nearby office buildings on foot, I'd recommend allowing extra time as it is a bit windy and easy to get lost.

WE recently spent a weekend in D.C. to celebrate ,with millions, the cherry blossoms festival. The day was very long for our group of both children and female adults , we arrived in a cloud of exhaustion . I had a hard copy of my hotel confirmation unfortunately the information was not forwarded to the hotel. In the nicest possible way Ali Shiran, the front desk supervisor, made a quick call ,received a quick e mail back and saved, with a flourish ,our girls getaway. We thank him and the Ritz-Carlton for a wonderful stay. I hope my this coming weekend at The Battery Park Ritz-Carlton will be as enjoyable. Candace Berlin

Not what you expect from a Ritz property! We came in early for a wedding and everywhere we went in the hotel they were short staffed! Getting a cup of coffee at their high end coffee bar took 30 minutes. If you didn't order the breakfast buffet it took 25 minutes for an order of eggs. We went to the bar for a drink before the wedding and it took 10 minutes for someone even to take our drink order and we would have had a second but no one came back! Very poor showing and surprised by the poor service at a Ritz!

The hotel is nice however the lobby is on the 4th floor which made things a little difficult. The room was neat but small and tastefully decorated. I was a little disappointed it seemed as though the dish for the soap had been used as an ashtray. Not sure why it would not have been replaced.

We recently stayed here over a weekend. We were able to check in early, and our room was perfectly adequate, and very clean. However, it's nothing like the other RCs we have been to. It was very crowded- two weddings that night, as well as a lot of families. I am thinking because it's relatively cheap that it draws a different crowd.

We had an afternoon snack in the small lounge restaurant- the food was very good, but service was only okay. There was a wide range of people, from folks waiting for the weddings to start, to men wearing scruffy jeans and t-shirt, watching the bike racing on the tv.

The Asprey toiletries are terrific, and the two a day house keeping is great. However, we had brought champagne, and at higher level hotels, the staff generally notices, brings a bucket, flutes, etc. Here, they only put more ice into the very tiny ice bucket.

The mattress is also very soft- both of us had a hard time sleeping.

The next morning, the wrong newspaper was delivered to the door. Okay, we can deal with that. We ordered room service for breakfast. It came within 35 minutes. .. but the order was really, really wrong. We would have sent it back if we weren't on a tight schedule. I had ordered an egg white omlette with mozzarella cheese and a variety of vegetables. . . a regular omlette with cheddar, LOTS of ham, and different vegetables showed up. I had also asked for bacon, which didn't show up. My husband's order was accurate, but they gave him the wrong tea. He ended up getting the tea he wanted (Earl Grey) from the in room beverage center. The toast was also very, very soggy.

We made a brief visit to the spa/pool. The pool was JAMMED at 9 am on a Sunday- lots of kids, with completely uninterested parents "watching" them. There was a lifeguard there, but he was not paying attention at all. We didn't expect solitude, but we also didn't expect 5 young (under 6) kids hanging out in the whirlpool with us, their parents on the phone, etc.

The spa area is VERY crowded. It's down a narrow hallway, and the changing rooms get crowded. No one was in the men's, so my husband didn't have any complaints, but the women's was very crowded. There were six of us in the sauna. Also, the showers are nice, but there is no lotion nearby. You have to go across the changing room to apply it. The relaxation room is VERY small- just a few chairs, apples, and cucumber water. There were a few Washington Posts, but no magazines, etc.

This is a step up from a Marriott, but below Ritz standards. There's a reason it is only a Tier I!!

Room Tip: Away from the elevators!
