“Relaxing and great if you want to shop”

if you want to be able to park your car and just enjoy shopping, eating, and sipping some wine in the hotel lounge or walking to one of the restaurants or bars nearby this hotel is for you. The rooms are spacious and clean, the service nice and we have not been disappointed. The bar is too small for the property and its hard to get a seat on the weekends is my only complaint,but there are plenty of other places to go like the Palms or Cheesecake Factory,or numerous other familiar restaurants. The palms is great for Friday happy hour. We ordered appetizers at the bar and they were very good! Happy hour pricing was a surprise! You can walk around the galleria or drive over to Tyson's Mall. There is no morning coffee as another reviewer mentioned, but you can get a
Starbucks in the Galleria. There is a small but nice gym also. Overall it is a nice property with lots nearby or if you just want to stroll through the mall, eat and drink without worrying about driving around. There is jazz in the bar if you can get a seat on the weekends. My college kids like the hotel and the shopping. It's a good family place. The concierge floor offers food and drink and is a good value added service. We have been coming here for years and in fact have booked two nights during thanksgiving break so we can get some shopping done with the kids!

The Ritz in Tysons corner used to be great.... then Mariott took over the managemnt.
I have stayed here more than 100 nights and I have watched the commitment to excellence decay.
Last week my room had no soap or shampoo.... the front desk said sorry.
This week my TV was broken and the tech guy (a great guy) could not fix it. I called the front desk... again all I got was a "sorry about that"
If something was wrong they used to recipricate with perhaps breakfast, or an offer of a drink at the bar... no more.

The hotel is getting dataed and the best you can hope for is "sorry"
THEY DONT EVEN OFFER COFFEE ANY MORE IN THE MORNING!
Almost every other hotel I have stayed at had a coffee urn for people on the go in the morning. They had this at the Ritz also... then mariott took it over. No more.

Trust me.. I am a very seasoned traveller and I would strongly recommend either suffereing through the extend commute and stay at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington proper, the Weston in reston heights, or the Grand Hyatt in Reston Town Center.

The staff here is still great and they reallycare, but the new management... well... I can't say the things I would like to say in this forum, but suffice to say that as soon as they gave up the concept of service that they have started on a precipetous slide towards mediocarcy.

Oh well...it is time for a new order.

I recently stayed at this property for 8 nights while attending a conference at the hotel. The service was exactly what you'd expect from the Ritz Carlton.....excellent. I found all staff to be extremely courteous, friendly and willing to help. Room was, as expected, impeccable, spacious, comfortable and with the proper quality of amenities. Since I was staying for more than a couple of days, I requested they remove some items from the mini bar in order to store some items I picked up at the supermarket, they immediately brought me another mini fridge for my items. Service was up to par. Having the mall adjacent to the hotel was convenient, providing alternate options for a meal (cheesecake factory, maggianos, PF Changs). Needless to say, shopping opportunities are abundant. I would definitely return to this hotel.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a delightful bell staff who were friendly and helpful (and they continued to be that way throughout my stay). The check in was a bumpy experience, as the room wasn't ready and I was told she would call me when the room was ready (she never did). I was surprised that parts of the hotel seems a little run down (carpet in halls seems worn, ceiling panels are loosening, walls have dents and need painting, just general "run down" appearance). The room was nice, and the bed provided a great night of sleep. The alarm clock did not work, so I had to rely on a "wake up call". The general hotel staff was not as tuned into customer service as the bell staff (i.e. one employee more focused on their sipping of coffee in the elevator, leaning on the wall, and personal conversation with another employee than greeting customers as used to be the norm). The food last year was amazing ... this year, it was bland and not tastey ... the temperature wasn't maintained (french fries were cold, breakfast sandwiches were cold even though in a heater, etc). The hallways were FREEZING. The spa on Saturday evening was a mess ... dirty towels everywhere, young girls running around, razors laying around ... very disappointing.

This was our second stay at the Ritz Carlton, Tyson's this year, and it was once again an excellent visit. The staff cannot do enough for you and always available. The location next to Tyson's Corner is fabulous. Also it is attached to the Tyson's Galleria for excellent shopping and dining. We found the restaurants wonderful. Our room was perfect. Clean, spacious and had everything we needed, and the bed was perfect. If I was in the market for a new matteress, I would buy this one. On our second morning the elevators were not working properly. Something to do with the call buttons. But there were large signs printed above each floors call buttons asking you to pick up the phone and state the floor you are on. A few seconds later the elevator car arrived with a cheerful staff member. Each elevator had an employee with a radio contolling each car. Just like long ago. I mentioned to the employee, this must be a pain for them so early in the morning. Her reply was "oh no!, this just gives us an opportunity to interact with our guests and service them further." I LOVE THE RITZ!!!!! Now we all know this had to be "inconvenient" for them, but they were not going to let it interfere with their guests experience, they just made it better. Years ago while staying at the Ritz in Maui, I learned that the mission statement of the Ritz Carlton is "Ladies and Gentlemen, serving Ladies and Gentlemen". Each stay I have had with them, they easily have delivered.

Stayed on the Club level. Service was outstanding. Rooms were very nice. Pool seemed more like spa water. Could not have asked for a better overall stay. If you ever have the chance, go with the club level. Valet was a nice icing on the cake.

If you want to spend a weekend shopping at a mall then you might like this hotel. Aside from the fact that the signage is terrible, and guests are constantly wondering the lobby and hallways (because you have to go to two different elevator banks to get in or out of the hotel!); the fact that housekeeping left the door to my room ajar all day while I was out at a meeting; the fact that the club lounge allows people to talk loudly on their cellphones and actually permitted a man to take his shoes off and pick at his bare feet while sitting on a lounge sofa; the fact that the entire hotel is filled with partying young people on weekend jaunts, traveling salesmen, and shopping-spree visitors from the Middle East with entourages carrying hundreds of shopping bags . . . . need I go on?

Also, hotel is hermetically sealed - no windows open anywhere. Very claustrophobic.

I have stayed here several times over the past few years (my company-approved hotel, sadly), and I have never enjoyed myself.

Be aware: the traffic in the Tysons Corner area is HORRIBLE! It can take you 25 minutes to go 500 yards. Plan any driving very carefully and build in a lot of extra time to get to your destination. I left for Dulles 3 hours before my flight (since it is supposed to be a 20-minute drive), and I almost missed the plane.
