“Excellent Location, Excellent Service and what other hotels want to be.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

This was our second stay at the Ritz Carlton, Tyson's this year, and it was once again an excellent visit. The staff cannot do enough for you and always available. The location next to Tyson's Corner is fabulous. Also it is attached to the Tyson's Galleria for excellent shopping and dining. We found the restaurants wonderful. Our room was perfect. Clean, spacious and had everything we needed, and the bed was perfect. If I was in the market for a new matteress, I would buy this one. On our second morning the elevators were not working properly. Something to do with the call buttons. But there were large signs printed above each floors call buttons asking you to pick up the phone and state the floor you are on. A few seconds later the elevator car arrived with a cheerful staff member. Each elevator had an employee with a radio contolling each car. Just like long ago. I mentioned to the employee, this must be a pain for them so early in the morning. Her reply was "oh no!, this just gives us an opportunity to interact with our guests and service them further." I LOVE THE RITZ!!!!! Now we all know this had to be "inconvenient" for them, but they were not going to let it interfere with their guests experience, they just made it better. Years ago while staying at the Ritz in Maui, I learned that the mission statement of the Ritz Carlton is "Ladies and Gentlemen, serving Ladies and Gentlemen". Each stay I have had with them, they easily have delivered.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front have excellent views

Stayed on the Club level. Service was outstanding. Rooms were very nice. Pool seemed more like spa water. Could not have asked for a better overall stay. If you ever have the chance, go with the club level. Valet was a nice icing on the cake.

Room Tip: Club level.

If you want to spend a weekend shopping at a mall then you might like this hotel. Aside from the fact that the signage is terrible, and guests are constantly wondering the lobby and hallways (because you have to go to two different elevator banks to get in or out of the hotel!); the fact that housekeeping left the door to my room ajar all day while I was out at a meeting; the fact that the club lounge allows people to talk loudly on their cellphones and actually permitted a man to take his shoes off and pick at his bare feet while sitting on a lounge sofa; the fact that the entire hotel is filled with partying young people on weekend jaunts, traveling salesmen, and shopping-spree visitors from the Middle East with entourages carrying hundreds of shopping bags . . . . need I go on?

Also, hotel is hermetically sealed - no windows open anywhere. Very claustrophobic.

I have stayed here several times over the past few years (my company-approved hotel, sadly), and I have never enjoyed myself.

Be aware: the traffic in the Tysons Corner area is HORRIBLE! It can take you 25 minutes to go 500 yards. Plan any driving very carefully and build in a lot of extra time to get to your destination. I left for Dulles 3 hours before my flight (since it is supposed to be a 20-minute drive), and I almost missed the plane.

Room Tip: Club Floors are a total waste due to disgusting habits of other hotel guests. And the hotel does no...

Nice hotel, but prefer the Washington, D.C. location. It's fun that it's connected to Tyson's II - high end shopping area. Staff are very nice and professional. Dinner was good and breakfast perfectly suitable. One small issue was I spoke to two different concierges prior to our arrival, each gave different driving directions to the hotel - one which was totally incorrect.

I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in Tysons Corner, Virginia (Washington D.C. area) while attending a conference. The hotel is beautiful and feels first class throughout. It is convenient to shopping, downtown Washington and all of its attractions, as well as many businesses. Every staff member that I encountered went out of their way to greet me. Any requests I had were dealt with quickly and professionally. The room service meal I had was delicious and the lunches we were served during the event were wonderful. Unfortunately, I did not have time to enjoy the spa or the exercise facilities, however, the exercise room looked very well equipped. Parking is very convenient. It was obvious to me that top quality service is a top value at this hotel to which everyone there aspires.

Not what I expected and all because of one particular employee in the concierge's lounge who goofed up an order not once, not twice but THREE times. No apologies and enough attitude to make one scream. I'm not surprised though because I always found many service industry workers in the DC Metro area to be less than friendly. This is the Ritz-Carlton though. Totally unacceptable. Concierge level room was what you'd expect from the Ritz-Carlton so no problem there. Amenities/food in the lounge though were limited and disappointing in comparison with others I've enjoyed.

Will probably not revisit this property, I'm afraid.

I liked:
1) Terrific showers - very strong pressure!
2) High quality, well maintained interiors
3) Friendly and very helpful staff
4) Proximity to a very high end fashionista shopping mall

I didn't like:
1) That same mall was very focused - it really is only high end fashionista type stuff
2) The hotel isn't near any public transport
