Stayed here for almost a month on business in the DC area. The hotel from the outside looks very old, as the outside sign appears to be 80's era. The rooms also show considerable wear. There were attempts to repair but it was hard to miss the mismatched patches on the walls. Also, the loveseat was worn to the wood on the arms and smelled like it had never been washed or cleaned ever. AC units drain onto the walkways outside making morning walks very slippery. Like others have said, there was mold spots on my shower ceiling as well, and the vent in the bathroom was very dusty. The bed was worn, but not too bad actually. Linens appeared to be pretty clean. TV channel selection was pretty poor, and sat on a desk/drawers that was stained and beat up. Also, I thought half my bathroom lights were out, but turns out they were only screwed in halfway. Walking by unoccupied rooms with windows open showed the same thing. Why is this done?
Sleep quality was ok, except for the incessant drone of diesel engines from the droves of Chinese tourists that seem to be this hotel's bread and butter. The busses get in late or start up very early and take up large numbers of parking spots.
The worst thing was the type of "guests" this hotel attracts though. Ladies of questionable job profession were visible both day and night, I personally observed three domestic squabbles outside for everyone to see, and numerous undercover law enforcement persons were around the area (dress clothes, firearm openly carried, on phones outside open doors and walking the property). Also, some guests took their room chairs outside and drank beer on the sidewalks. It's obvious this hotel has no security. Plus English is not the first language of most of the staff it seems, so communication can be tough at times.
The morning breakfast area is small, and food is pretty poor. Stick to coffee and hit the road I say. Another major annoyance is the fact that only one or two people in the entire motel have access to the laundry room at one time. This is a very big inconvenience, and I say, if people who don't belong in the laundry room are around, hire security to keep them away. Simple fix.
The one major advantage to this motel is the location. It is interestingly enough, in a well to do neighborhood with plenty of places to shop and eat at. Metro station is down the street and it is easy to get around. Seems disappointing that this place is so run down right in the middle of such a nice area.
Bottom line, it's a place to stay, nothing more. I wouldn't stay here again, but if you had to, the price is ok. Any longer than a night or so, look elsewhere.
