“Very nice stay! Would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Stayed here for one night at the end of September 2013. We went to a wedding at the Tower Club that was located within walking distance across the street.

We arrived earlier than recommended check in time due to the wedding we were attending, but they were very accommodating and placed us on the 15th floor (top floor) which had lovely views. The room was a standard size. The room was clean, as well as the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The room location was nice and quiet.

We would stay here again.

The stay here was decent. I had a regular room which is of typical size for a full service Marriott - smallish and they feel tight for more than one person. The room was comfortable enough and clean. We did have several maintenance issues: the phone line had lots of static - I discovered this when I tried to call about a bad door opening mechanism (it couldn’t read our key cards consistently). The other issue was that a sliding door to the closet was broken. The frame had been literally splintered at some point in time and never reported. The maintenance guy took the door away as he felt it was a safety issue and replaced it the next day. The locking mechanism was replaced within an hour of reporting the problem. I said the phone could be fixed after I left as it didn’t bother me. I was in a room on the concierge floor and you’d think they’d be more on top of maintenance issues in these rooms. I have stayed here many years off and on and have had consistently great service in the restaurant for breakfast. The servers really do a good job. The front desk staff can be hit or miss.
They charge $6 for parking during the week but it is free on the weekends. Also, they have courtesy shuttle service on the weekend and we used it to get to the Metro. It will also take you to the malls nearby although one of them is close enough to walk.
The concierge lounge does a decent enough job and I was very pleased with the offerings although I'd have enjoyed a veggie tray or fruit in the evening.

Room Tip: Try and get a high room with a view out over the interstate - it is fun to watch the cars at night.

Stayed in the Marriott for 2 nights with my husband and children.
We needed 2 rooms because the rooms are quite small.

Very close to Tyson's Corner mall, literally you can walk to it (it takes about 4-5 mins).
Not very far from Dulles airport.
The hotel's shuttle provided transportation to the metro station.

The reception staff were not very friendly or helpful.

They have a lot of airlines staff staying there so I suppose they don't need other clients, so therefore no incentive for staff to be friendly.

Overall very average hotel.

Stay at this hotel for the weekend with the weekend discount for marriott gold elite membership. It was a pretty good price for this type of hotel. The overall quality was good. However, the bed and pillow was not very comfortable, at least for me.

Stayed a Friday night with family. The location is great right in front of the mall and near many cafes and shops. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit small as another reviewer mentioned but from a value for dollar spent there is not room to complain. In our room the internet was good no connection issues and we stayed on the 10th floor. The breakfast staff could not have been more accommodating. A special thank you yo LuLu the chef on duty she was so sweet and of course the omelets tasted great. We forgot a coat and shoes in the room when we called they found them for us and are holding them until we are in the area again. Great staff and location. Looks like the hotel has been recently renovated so appears clean and modern.

Look… I’m a Marriott platinum member-for-life and always stay at Marriott full serve hotels. We usually stay at the Fairview Park Marriott which is within a 10 min drive. We like it there. Located in a park-like setting with wonderful walking paths.

However, this past weekend, Tyson’s Corner Marriott was charging $36 a night less, so two nights plus taxes add up to an almost $80 savings.
What a surprise. We haven’t stayed here in over two years.

They have updated and modernized the lobby and we were upgraded to a junior suite that was very, very nice. The pool and gym on the second floor were terrific as well. Buffet breakfast which is included for gold and platinum members was excellent. in addition, the $6 a night fee for self-park is not applicable for weekend guests. This is not a park-like setting being located right on rt 7 and off of I-495 but it was an easy walk to the mall at Tyson’s.

I did read from other TA reviewers that the staff was a bit unfriendly. I found just the opposite. Everyone from the front desk to the wait staff were pleasant. Just one small glitch. We were in room 1100. From the time we checked in on a Saturday, until check out on Monday, there was a used wine glass in the hallway corridor as well as paper shreds and a cookie crumbs near our room and by the elevators that were never cleaned up. Small point in the overall picture and so I highly recommended the Tyson’s Corner Marriott.

Room Tip: updated marriott right off the beltway.

This is not the first stay in this hotel. My first was 10 years back and the 2nd was last year. The hotel did not change much but it was renovated and upgraded.

It is a nice hotel, Location wise: it is near the Tyson Corner Mall 1, near so many restaurants such as "Olive Garden, etc". It is an easy access to DC and in the middle of vienna where you want to have access to all roads.

As for the rooms, they are big enough and cozy. You would feel home, May be if you are with your couple you might want to upgrade to nicer rooms if available otherwise all rooms are fair enough.

The facilities are good too as you have laundry room but make sure you time yourself to go back to your stuff before someone comes and get them out and drop them somewhere you do not desire.

I will always recommend this hotel to people dropping by for nice and quiet stay. Will always go back to it.

Room Tip: As for rooms away from the swimming pool as it can get noisy. The higher floors the better.
