“What a hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Only 15 minutes from the Tides Inn. The seafood was fresh and fabulous. My husband took me for my birthday. So, the positives - great oysters, large fresh shrimp and we loved the small meal options so we could taste lots of stuff. The negative they need some fresh bread and starch options. No potatoes of any kind, pasta or rice... The view is fabulous. They even bring your drinks to the water edge before and after your meal. Not a cheap meal, but worth it!

“The setting was delightful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

The food and wine was especially enjoyable in such a beautiful setting overlooking the river and docks. Quite pleasant. I thought the oysters on the half shell were average and the prices slightly high.

“Unbelievably great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Beautiful location on the water at the end of a quiet road. The food was so fresh you could taste the sea. We got there at 5 pm on a Friday night and had a table by the water. The grilled oysters were briney and sweet, the steamed shrimp plump and juicy (get the mild spice). The sliders tangy and spot on. Don't miss the fried green tomatoes! When we finished we got an extra glass of wine and moved on to the chairs by the dock and relaxed by the water in our own quiet spot. The service was prompt. Menu is limited and I wish they had some kind of a green side salad to go with the shrimp but well worth the ride. All the seating is very casual and outside so go on a nice day.

This little hidden gem is a precious jewel to find on a Beautiful Sunday afternoon! It's casual, it's comfortable, and it is the most unique little tasting room I've ventured upon!
Service: perfect! Food: Delicious! Terry's special attention: Made my day!
Oysters on the Half Shell are a Must Try: my friend and I started with 1 dozen, which quickly led to 2... Cold, salty, and fresh!
Fried Green Tomatoes: fresh, from the local grower's crop, such a treat!
Seared Sea Scallops!: Huge surprise to my eyes! Cooked to absolute perfection, it will be my "usual" order from here on out!
Sittin' along-side the Creek on the Northern Neck just made this an over-the-top- absolutely- wonderful experience! Thank you!

“Simply Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Loved our visit to Merrior. We got there at 4pm with no wait on a Saturday. Had a perfect table overlooking the water. We ordered flights of beer, shrimp (SPICY - they aren't kidding when they say they are spicy), oysters (so salty and yummy), steamed crabs and sliders. All of the food was fresh and delicious, we cannot wait to come back.
