“Unique home - great preservation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

A truly remarkable landmark. Excellent preservation and tour guide was extremely informative. Getting to see the basement structure and a peak in the attic room was the highlight of the tour. The outbuidings is a part of the past that I hope they continue to preserve. A little disappointed in the gardens, was expecting a little more than a border of plants but all in all very pretty. Be sure to take the time for the Jamestown Ferry. The experience is worth it !

“A must-see for lovers of old buildings!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013 via mobile

Off the beaten path,a nice day trip if you are staying in the Williamsburg area. Incredible, very old house and garden with an exciting history. Beautifully restored...unique architectural features...in this country it is a rare treat to see a building this old. My daughters and I were the only visitors on the premises, and were given a really interesting tour of the building, top to bottom. Unforgettable!

“Memorable Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

The castle was a beautiful example of a growing country with the different style architectures of various time periods. The tour was excellent and the tour guide was very informed of the house and surrounding land. The castle is very well preserved and maintained. The local photography is a nice addition to the downstairs rooms. I bought a spooky picture of the castle. The staff was so helpful getting me the frame that was perfect for the picture. The castle will be something I can remember every time I see the beautiful picture. Also, as a side the building has participated in ghost investigations. Definitely, something going on in the middle room. Take the ferry and it will be an idyllic afternoon.

“Very impressive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We stopped by Bacons Castle and it is such an amazing looking home. The tour through the house and out buildings were very informative. Our favorite part was after the tour we just wandered around the garden for a while and sat in one of the benches. Since going to bacons castle we have driven past and around on other roads and I have been impressed by the marker posts they put up on the corners of the farmland that belongs to Bacons Castle. It helps give you an idea of how big it really is.

They do a great job and is a very nice stop if you are on this side of the river.
