“Need to work on little things”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

I want to let you know the rooms are very nice, set up well for business people, adequate internet connection and quiet. With that said, the other aspects of the hotel leave alot to be desired. 1) Pool area is extremely small and not more than 3 people can fit in whirlpool and can only swim laps in pool if 3 stokes are your limit 2) The room does not have a channel guide. When I called front desk about this, was told they no longer provide and to use the guide button on remote to search for stations (there are over 100 and how hard can it be to create and run off a list for each room). Last thing I want to do when I check into my room is spend 20 minutes identifying TV stations. 3) Ordered room service one night and was overcharged for food as the room service menu was not current with the resaurant prices, selection (called front desk again and they did adjust bill andsteaks are definitely not high quality) 4) The parking for the hotel is next to the hotel and you have to climb about 10 steps and use key card to get into hotel side entrance. (Not great for people who have trouble with stairs or when pouring down rain). 5) Was given a list of restaurants in the area but that was just what it was, a list. No map or idea how far any of the 50 restaurants listed are from the hotel.
Like I said, the room is great but the other aspects that make a hotel enjoyable (besides the room) need some help.

Room Tip: Not a large enough pool area for families with kids! Walking from parking lot to hotel is not set u...

I stayed here August 7, 2011 for one week. I chose this hotel because it got great reviews, looked like it was in a quiet town on the river, and it offered the Hilton employee discount. I was blown away when I got there. The hotel is beautiful, the staff was absolutely wonderful (they continued to ask how my honeymoon was going), food was fantastic, and the town is nice and quiet. My only issue during my stay here was the housekeeper's attitude when i asked for towels and trashbags (since I left my DND sign up for most of our stay). The front desk was wonderful, courteous, helpful and always had a smile on. The bartenders were fantastic: they gave us a complimentary drink as a congratulations, they gave us ideas of activities to do, they always asked how we were enjoying our honeymoon, and they were always smiling. Even the other guests were wonderful (the entire town is so nice, even the people who work at the McDonalds across the street were kind and polite!). The hotel itself is beautiful, the room was comfortable, I had no problems with internet, room service, or anything at all. We frequented the pool/hot-tub, fitness room ect. and everything was in working order and clean. The view was beautiful, and I couldnt have asked for a better honeymoon. I hope to return again for our anniversary!

Only stayed one night on our way to Virginia Beach. This is a very nice hotel with nice amenities. It's not very far from the interstate and is close to shopping and restaurants. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful.

This place was great. We were traveling home from our vacation adn were getting tired so without reservations we pulled up and inquired. They were hosting some kind of convention that weekend, but they were able to accomodate us with a room. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the place was spotless. The room was fabulous with a great view overlooking the water. It was very centrally located too.

My wife and I visited hotel last week.
Hotel is well maintained and has a very friendly staff.
Also has a business center at no additional cost to guests.
If you like space Jr. Suite is a great bargain.
Located near very popular restaurants.

Room Tip: Jr. Suite is a great deal!

The hotel if very nice with a nice view of the river. The staff is friendly. The hotel decor is colonial as one might expect for Suffolk VA. Overall it's a nice hotel.
