“Full of History.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Plan on spending a full day exploring the museum, touring the main house and the grounds, gardens and nature trails. Lots to explore... from the main house to the dozens of out buildings. Several nature trails with all levels of challenger for the adventurer.

If you decide to stay they have onsite dining hall that serves lunch and on occasion special dinners and several free standing and log cabins that have multiple rooms.

For the big history buff... learn all about the Lees of Virginia.. from the signers of the Declaration of Independence to Light Horse Harry to Gen. Robert E. Lee.

Keep an eye out for events and lectures on their event calendar.

Fantastic, informative tour guide (Edna) made the visit memorable. Beautiful grounds, interesting house, and lots of Virginia history to be learned here.

“I had always wanted to see this!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We arrived for the 11 am tour, and it was all we had planned. The grounds were colorful and neat. The gardens were worth walking through, and all the outbuildings. The tour guide did an excellent job of telling us what the Lee family would have been like and what their lives were like in that era. It was easy to see she had put many hours into inquiring and learning about this family. The home was great!! Anyone who is into history and/or Robert E. Lee should see this home!!

“Turn back the pages of time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This is one of my favorite historical sites. I love the grounds, the beautiful old mansion, the restaurant, the animals, the gift shop, even the visitor center. Have visited many times but always ready to go again. Especially love the coaching days.

“A Must Visit - and a "Lucky if You Can Stay"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Not only are the unique architecture and grounds breathtaking and impressive, the visitor's center and tours are an unforgettable learning experience. I've held retreats here for clients - the lodging is unique, fun, and really a great getaway from city life. The restaurant with traditional southern fare is delicious and the atmosphere enjoyable, if simple. Highly recommended for families, tourists, and retreats.
