“Authentic Burmese Food tempered by bad service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

As an aficionado of all things Burmese, I have always found A Taste of Burma to be among the more authentic Burmese eateries in the DC area. The place itself is very nicely decorated, with lovely traditional crafts on display in a tasteful manner. As for food, I always recommend the fermented green tea salad and the ginger salad as good intros into Burmese cuisine. Anything with fermented mustard leaves is also good, and chicken with mango or pork with mango is a real treat. Try the traditional Shweji for dessert. Some of the menu seems Thai, so be sure to ask your server to point out the Burmese items. Burmese food is unique and a reflection of its geographical position between India/Bangladesh, Thailand and China.
My only complaint here is the uncaring service. We could not even get our water glasses refilled. It was difficult to get the attention of wait staff. Generally pathetic service.

“Poor value service and fiod”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

We tried this place twice. Portions are small for the price, service very very slow...unless you are Asian. We will not go there again abd don't recommend it to anyone.

“Authentic Burmesee food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

For out in Loudoun, this is by far the best Burmese food. There has been some family issues that have affected the service of late, but not the quality of the food. This is a Burmese family run restaurant. Everything is prepared fresh with quality ingredients. We have been 6 times in the past year, have tried something new each time and have always enjoyed every meal. Usually there are a couple of good dishes and the rest ok. So far, out of 12 items in total, 6 for my wife and 6 for myself, each has been fantastic.

“Inconsistent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Went at lunchtime. Restaurant not even half full and service was really slow. Appetizers were good. Favorite one is split yellow pea fritter. Mango salad was quite tasty. Main dish of Mandalay chicken was ok but not a repeat.

“A family favorite for Asian flavor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

If you enjoy Thai and Chinese cooking, you will probably like the food of Burma, which has some aspects that resemble the cuisines of the surrounding countries, but some dishes are unique, and this little family-run restaurant is a great place to sample the tastes. The service can be a bit casual, but the food is excellent. Every dish is distinctive and well-prepared. Ask for advice if the menu is unfamiliar. The decor has some nice touches of Burmese culture but it is not fancy by any means. Worth seeking out in this quiet corner of a busy strip mall in the Countryside neighborhood off Route 7.
