Outstanding value for an airport suite hotel. Excellent facilties and services. Will stay there again
My husband and I stayed here on June 13 after a long transatlantic flight. We knew nothing about the hotel except for the reviews on Trip Advisor and we were extremely pleased with this modern and comfortable hotel. The rooms are very spacious and new......the bed was divine! There is a small kitchenette, and a sitting area with a large sofa, work desk and a super flat screen TV. The desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. There is free internet at the business center and a free breakfast buffet which offers Starbucks coffee and lots of healthy breakfast items. We used the free airport shuttle which had the nicest driver. The only negative....(minor): this hotel is next to nothing by highways. Don't count on walking down the street to an interesting restaurant or to do shopping because it is impossible without a car. Only problem we encountered was that our room was next to an ice machine that was incredibly noisy. I'm sure the desk would have moved us if we had asked, but we were too tired to move.
I stayed here with my wife and 10 year old daughter. The hotel is new so it is very clean. Easy access to Dulles Airport with comp shuttle service. I was very happy with the room, (2 queen bed suite). The cleanliness was excellent. The hotel offers a free breakfast. Pretty good, standard continental but with omellets to order. The pool was very clean and there was a lifeguard on duty. Front desk staff, and shuttle drivers were very nice and quick to make me happy. I will def stay here again when I return to DC.
CONS: t is a little distant from the DC metro. Traffic is horrible during rush hour.
I stayed at the Hotel Sierra from June 4 through June 9, 2008.
Lobby/Check-in:
When I first arrived at the hotel, I thought it was wonderfully modern, and beautifully decorated with soothing spa colors. The reservation agents that greeted me were professional, thorough and helpful.
Room:
I stayed with 2 other relatives in a double bed studio suite (2 double beds, sofabed, and kitchen). The beds were extremely plush and comfortable. The couch which converted into a sofabed was more than adequate. There was a flat screen tv and iPod station clock radio. The kitchen had stainless steel fridge, coffee maker, microwave, stovetop, utensils, dishes, pans, wine bottle openers, strainers-- everything you could possibly need. We had no intentions on cooking, but it came in handy when we reheated restaurant leftovers. It had a 2-part bathroom: sink and closet outside, shower/tub and toilet inside.
Food:
They had a complimentary breakfast buffet each morning, which was the absolute best I've ever had. They had an omelet station, cereals, bagels, fruit, waffles, bacon, sausage, orange juice, coffee, tea, and spa water (you know, the pitcher of water filled with fruit for flavor!) I highly recommend that you not miss it - 6:30am to 9:30am.
In the evenings, you can get some light fare and wine at their lobby bar, which has comfortable chairs, couches and big screen televisions. They serve decent California wines at great prices. I suggest you try one of their pizza appetizers.
Business Center:
I forgot to take my laptop (free wireless access throughout the hotel), but their Business Center was more than adequate-- 4 Dell computer stations, 2 HP printers, all the office supplies you might need, and available 24/7.
This hotel was better than any Hyatt I've stayed in the past. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the Dulles airport/Sterling/Reston/Great Falls area.
My family came to the D.C. area for vacation and absolutely loved our stay here! Not the most convenient for sightseeing, but not far from the Metro (short drive) so just slight inconvenience there. Hotel was absolutely gorgeous, very friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet. Our room expectation was exceeded. Only problem was each day we had to request additional towels, but very prompt response from front desk. Property was very clean. Excellent price too - especially if you stay 5 or more days - hotel website had best rate! I had searched for weeks for a reasonable price and this was VERY reasonable. Would definitely stay here again for a trip to DC! Thanks Hotel Sierra for a wonderful stay!
