“Old friends, new memories”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

My wife and I flew in from San Antonio, Texas to bring in the new years with friends at the Inn. We arrived late on Dec 29th and settled in at the cabin, a cottage off the main house that was a tobacco drying building brought to the property years earlier. The fireplace was very welcoming, which helped shed the chill that those of us from Texas don't experience on a regular basis. The fire and the bed were welcoming. The following morning we were greeted by the owners/innkeepers, Barry and Neil and also greeted some friends with which we would be celebrating the news year's. The breakfast was beyond belief, but this is normal fare for the Inn. The next couple of days we did sightseeing in the valley and enjoying visiting with friends and the multi-course suppers that Chef Adam prepared. Each morning was like waking in a dream; surrounded by the warmth and genuine caring of Neil, Barry and their wait staff each day-Michelle, Kelly and Natalie. New Year's Eve started with a gathering of all the guests-some old friends and some new friends. We shared light snacks and champagne. Soon, after toasts were presented, we sat down to a heavenly seven course dinner second to none. Following supper, we brought in the new year celebrating with sharing stories of 2011, dancing and laughing. The next morning we welcomed 2012 with the traditional new year's breakfast of Poppin' John for good luck. Unfortunately, our time ran out and it was time to return home. We weren't only leaving friends, we were leaving family; Barry with his unique sense of humor, Neil with her loving style, and Michelle, Kelly and Natalie's smiles and helpfulness; and, all with their genuine caring-all to ensure that guests' stays are ones they will always cherish. As we bid fond, but heart-heavy farewells, we made reservations to return at the end of 2012. We also look forward to business trips that bring us back to the Washington DC area, so we can drop in to see how our Virginia family is doing. Well done, Barry and Neil; blessing for 2012

We four couples have been going to The Inn at Vaucluse Spring for New Year's Eve for 6 years and we have always had a super time! The owners, Barry and Neil, are very gracious hosts and seem to give The Inn a special attraction. We have stayed at a number of Inns and we know of no other place like this for personal attention, concern for the guest, great rooms and owners who can adapt to anything that comes their way!! The staff is superb and very attentive; since we have been there a number of times, we feel very comfortable around them and they seem to be very attentive to us!!!

Room Tip: The rooms on the upper floor of the main house are the best! But three of the couples stay in the th...

My husband and I have travelled and stay in many B&Bs around the world. The Inn at Vaucluse Spring has definitely been one of our favorite places. Neil and Barry were warm and friendly, the room was perfect, and the food was amazing! We enjoyed every one of the 6-course meal, not to mention the freshly baked pretzel bread and the afternoon hot apple cider and freshly baked cookies. We look forward to returning soon.

My husband and I recently stayed one night at the Inn at Vaucluse Spring right before Thanksgiving as a gift to ourselves before we went to see the family in Winchester. It was a beautifully appointed location and our accomodations were delightful. When we got there Neil met us at the door, showed us around and offered us AMAZING apple cider. She mentioned that they didn't lock the doors (which was strange for us as we're from CT where we lock EVERYTHING), but it became clear afterwards, that we didn't need to lock the doors, so we felt fine once we got to our room (which has its own lock). We stayed in the Chumley Suite, but because no one else was staying in the other suite (the Hite), we had the whole run of the house to ourselves.

It was lovely. We lit the HUGE fireplace downstairs, played scrabble and ate food we had cooked for ourselves for a lovely relaxing night in. Everything we needed was there and the house was lovely. We especially loved the bathroom and the two-sided gas fireplace in the bedroom/bathroom. We both woke up with a bit of backpain from the mattress, but we also decided that it wasn't a dealbreaker.

Breakfast was fantastic and we really enjoyed chatting with Adam. We got a kick out of finding out a bit about his culinary training and international travel and we appreciated the added touches he set out once he knew we were foodies. The home-made cinnamon buns were out of this world.

Overall, we had no complaints about the Inn at Vaucluse Spring. The entire locale was beautifully appointed, well taken care of, and just the relaxing and refreshing respite we needed before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. We'll certainly be back to see Neil and look forward to getting our family to say there as well.

Room Tip: We loved the Chumley Suite and recommend it wholeheartedly. It's an added bonus if noone is stay...

Great get away from the everyday rat race. If you want to reconnect with your partner this definately is a great start! No distraction of television in our room. The house is really beautiful and the porch is a great place for hours of conversation. Barry and Neil are excellent hosts! We are looking forward to our return in the spring.

Room Tip: Plan way in advance. We got lucky and got the last room.

I wanted to wait a week before writing the review just to make sure we still feel the same way about the Inn at Vaucluse Springs as when we were there: yup, we do! The hosts, Barry and Neil, are consummate, experienced, welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding country features and events. The main house where we stayed was roomy, cozy, and wonderfully decorated. It's located away from the city, in a quiet farm area. It's located about an hour west of Dulles airport.

Chef Adam's Friday and Saturday dinners were spectacular; especially the Saturday 6-course dinner/event! We would have stayed in the B&B all day if Chef Adam would have kept cooking and bringing out more scrumptious meals. Our room was roomy enough to include a sitting area next to the fireplace and a well-equipped library (in addition to the libraries in the other public rooms). Bottom line: the Inn is an exemplary B&B with respect to location, service, hospitality and value.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Marshall room downstairs. The 3 rooms downstairs also share a sitting room with a...

This was our 7th stay at the inn, the first with snow (the spring was beautiful) and I am running out of superlatives. Just come here for a weekend, eat at the inn (you'll love it), and enjoy the hospitality of Neil, Barry, Michelle and Kelly. You'll be back.

Room Tip: Our favorites are the log cabin and the studio.
