“Be aware of the noise from other rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

A really lovely old house and converted barn, set in rolling countryside.Rooms well appointed ,comfy beds and lovely white linen and everywhere tastefully decorated.Tea and coffee available all day.But the noise from the bathroom above our bedroom was totally unacceptable. You could hear everything, loudly . The last straw was when the occupants were using ,what we assumed was a whirl pool bath, the noise was so loud we had to go out! Even in a converted barn we don't expect this level of noise intrusion.

Room Tip: Ask where it is,is there a bathroom above it,or next to it

I recently traveled to Staunton, VA to meet some distant family members and stayed at the Inn at Old Virginia. The Inn is situated on a large property with beautiful vistas of the rolling hills. At the same time, it was easy to find and conveniently located near enough to town and to highways that even someone like myself who was new to the area found it easy to get around. I stayed in one of the rooms in the renovated barn and it was more than beautiful. Everything is beautifully decorated and I loved the little personal touches that make each room unique. I met Eve and her daughter Becky and you could not ask for friendlier hosts. They were both warm and welcoming and made sure that we had everything we could possibly want. Breakfast was also amazing. I'm anxious to make time to return.

I almost hesitate to write a review as I want to keep this gem my secret. Well, the secret is out: Inn at Old Virginia has a well-deserved 5-star rating. Guests are smitten. The Inn is lovely - inside and out. Nestled in a bucolic setting, the Inn is just moments outside of Staunton which offers yet more charm. The rooms (we've stayed each time in the Barn) are spotless, comfortable, tastefully decorated. A mood of serenity permeates. The breakfasts - served in a oh-so-pretty solarium - are delicious, varied, and just the right amount. Innkeeper Eve and her staff are beyond gracious, not to mention totally efficient and accommodating. Ask a question (directions, events, eating suggestions, must-sees, etc) - response is immediate and specific. Everything about Inn at Old Virginia seems so tranquil, effortless. A lot of hard work and dedication has to be behind that.

Room Tip: We've stayed in the Barn - all good. The two rooms upstairs are super nice - very spacious - wo...

first came upon the Inn at Old Virginia when we held my daughter's wedding there. Everything was done professionally, efficiently and with respect to our wishes. We rented a secondary building they call the Barn and had our whole family there. Since our daughter lives in Staunton we have returned several times to the Inn and each time they have exceeded our expectations. A couple of weeks ago we arrived from a flight to Richmond at 11 at night and found the room ready, the keys on the bed and everything in its place. In the morning we ate a great breakfast, the best frittata I have eaten in this country, and waited for our daughter. Even though she was not a guest, Eve the owner, immediately greeted her and offered a complementary breakfast much as she was registered there. Early in the morning the guests above our room made a lot of noise as they were leaving and the staff apologized and, even though we did not complain, we soon found a partial reimbursement of our room charge and a formal apology for the noise. I have stayed at this Inn now three times and will go there again to celebrate the birth of my newest granddaughter. I am sure that the memories of this visit will be enhanced by our stay at the Inn at Old Virginia. I do not usually write reviews but I felt compelled to praise the Inn where we have acquired such fantastic memories.

Room Tip: We have stayed at the Barn each time and found it very pleasant and with a pleasant view. There is a...

This is a lovely B and B on the edge of Staunton in a country setting. We booked online from the UK and you never know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. We found it very difficult to find from the google map because we hadn't printed a big enough area and we had to ask for directions. When we arrived it was about 7 o'clock but Becky was very welcoming and spent 20 minutes showing us around the house explaining everything and giving us advice about where to have dinner in town. The bedroom,- Captain Lewis, was huge with an immense bed which you can set for how firm it is. The bathroom was well equipped. As we were the only guests we had the run of the house and could help ourselves to drinks, videos, books, etc. Breakfast was cooked by Eve who was chatty and it was good,- orange juice, yogurt, fresh fruit, french toast and sausage,- all delicious. As we left we completed a questionnaire so Eve gave us 2 'Inn at Old Virginia' mugs and some shortbread which was a nice touch.

My wife and I followed our B&B anniversary tradition this year in Staunton (BTW, the U is silent!) VA. We asked to have fresh flowers and champagne waiting for us. Eve and her outstanding staff did not disappoint. The flowers were awesome and the champs was chilled and ready after dinner as requested. The Inn is a few miles from down town and offers a beautiful backdrop of rolling green hills. The inn and the grounds are immaculate. The room we stayed in was in "the barn" and we loved it. There were some previous comments about the walls being thin and what not but we didn't notice anything like that. The room we had was not a large room, but we were only in it to sleep and change clothes so not a huge deal. The decks and french doors off the back of the barn are a really nice treat for those that smoke or those that lock themselves out of their front door! Eve will recommend some very nice restaurants, and if she suggests taking in a play at the Blackfriars playhouse...do it, but stick to the expensive seats on the main floor. Trust me on that one. For night life enthusiasts, check out the Pompeii Lounge above Emilio's Restaurant. They had the most amazing live band called Maybe Tomorrow, locals of course. They offered inside and outside cocktails/smoking/dancing and a bit of comedy. Eve and her staff produced the best breakfasts we have had in a long time. Since last year to be exact! Anyway, we loved it and recommend you try it too.

Room Tip: Our room was handicap accessible so the shower was huge...a big plus for a couple in love! The curta...

We wish we could have stayed longer, but, the one night we spent was awesome. We stayed in the renovated barn (don't let that fool you). The room was HUGE, bright with the mountain sunshine, and had just about everything you could think of to make you comfortable. After a nice soak in the whirlpool, watching the deer on the the hill from the balcony was wonderful. Breakfast was in the atrium, complete with linen, and polished silver. We were treated like kings, and can't wait to come back. Thanks Deana. Roger and Beverley.
