“good food & drink”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Tasty food and craft beer. We had a guacamole appetizer. I got a black bean chimichanga, and my wife got a shrimp quesadilla. Good beer selection.

“not just beans!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Good food, good service, good prices! Not just your run of the mill Americanized Mexican food. Some interesting options such as the pork mole burrito that are worth trying out! Generous portions. Fun server!

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

Needed quick meal prior to a show at ASC. Service was quick. Had the enchilada Popeye which was unique and outstanding. Numerous unique offerings which put a twist on Mexican food. Would definitely go again.

“Otherwise Marvelous!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Manfriend and I ate there on a Saturday evening and the place was packed with young women all dressed up for homecoming. Lots of sequins and short skirts and curled hair, they were cute and really loud and clearly having a great time! Folks stood at the door waiting for tables and we told our server to invite someone to join us at our table as we had room to share, which turned out to be a great bonus!

The chips and salsa came right away, the salsa is always good and the chips are gluten free which is great for folks with food allergies. The waitress told us that they change the oil in the fryer on Saturdays so we were getting chips that hadn't shared oil with a bunch of flour tortillas, etc, so that's good. (At least if you are there on a Saturday)

I ordered the Burrito de Salud ($8) which was the only vegan thing on the menu. For such a large menu, it's disheartening that there was only one vegan option, but on the other hand... Mexican places are all about the meat, cheese and sour cream, so I guess it goes with the territory. And it only took seconds to choose.

The food arrived quickly and the portion was huge. There must have been about two cups of black beans (huge!!) sprinkled with white rice (Manfriend made a comment about the white rice looking like maggots against the black beans, silly man) and just a few grilled veggies on top of that, all wrapped in a flour tortilla. It was doused with a red sauce that wasn't memorable and garnished with some fresh crunchy cabbage that was a nice counterpoint to the soft texture of the black beans. The menu promised spinach and guacamole... the spinach was MIA and the guacamole was not enough to register. I would not order it again.

Manfriend ordered the Juevos con Chorizo ($8) and was warned that it was spicy, which is great, bring it on! It looked rather small when it came, and I didn't see the cilantro cream or jallepeno bottlecaps the menu promised, but he downed it with gusto and said it was quite good. It smelled great! Then he finished the rest of my bean burrito.

The ladies that joined us at our table were an absolute delight and they appeared to be enjoying their meal though we didn't talk about the food. We had a great time and it seemed that the vibe around us was a happy one. The bill for our meal was super cheap. Service was timely, attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable and they were not at all phased by us sharing a table.

All in all I would say it was a fun social experience, with room for improvement on the vegan front. And if the menu says it is on the plate... then it should be. Otherwise marvelous.
