Upon arrival desk staff seemed friendly and helpful. Essentially the buildings appeared to be renovated highway motel from 70s or 80s that Days Inn had purchased. Parking somewhat awkward as we had a room in a corner, someone with a large pickup truck making our spot somewhat tight. Otherwise seemed to be plenty of parking.
We had a ground floor room. Initially it had a perfume type smell. Anytime there's a perform smell I suspect mold. Sure enough there was some on the tiles in the bathroom and quite a bit of silicone used around the tub and tiles. The tub faucet looked original though was functional and not dripping. There was some wet toilet paper on the bathroom floor next to the toilet when we arrived. I also noted the flooring underneath carpeting by the sink seemed uneven which could be a trip hazard (perhaps previous plumbing problems?).
There was a sign for snacks, though only snack was drinks. We ended up driving across the street to the convenience store. The other store/gas station was closed all ready at 9 pm.
The beds were good, not too hard not too soft. One of the beds was very close to the wall of the bathroom, so a second person would have a tough time getting in and out of bed.
We heard a few foot steps and noise outside. Some of the noise was highway trucks and people in the parking lot. We did not hear foot steps above us after that.
Around 1:30 a.m. after using the toilet, we heard what sounded like a frog croaking near the refrigerator. We unplugged it, moved it around a little and the sound kept going. I tapped the wall with the remote a bit, no change. Around 3 a.m. I finally realized I should try to flush the toilet again. After doing this the sound stopped. Perhaps it was a plugged up vent pipe? This shouldn't be my or wife worry about frog jumping into a bed (!!), of course I lost 1.5 hours of sleep at that point.
In the morning, we mentioned the frog to the desk clerk, who said that was the oddist thing they had heard of and would mention it to someone else. We did not receive anything in return for lost sleep.
The breakfast was ok, but the waffles should probably be put on a paper plate and not a foam plastic as they started to melt the plastic. The Folgers coffee was good.
