This property is only about a year old and was a fine place for our family to stay for a week in the D.C. area.
THE GOOD: Customer service. The front desk staff were always welcoming and friendly, especially Katy, who made us feel like family. I called in a problem the first day with our shower water not being hot enough, and it was fixed that day. It's clean and very commodious. The mattresses were comfortable -- even the queen sofa bed in the living room. Location is also convenient for household and other supplies: it's in and near several shopping centers -- a grocery store is just across the parking lot. It's very close to the interstate.
THE NOT SO GOOD: If you're mostly visiting the area for Washington, D.C. (as we were), and you're driving, it's kind of a long drive and you're always in commuter traffic on that route. I can't speak for the Metro, though, which might be an easier way to go. Also, the units are built with fairly cheap materials, bedding, and furnishings, so although it was fine for us, being as new as it was, I got the feeling that the rooms won't look so good in a year or two. The lobby is insane -- huge plasma TVs everywhere, each with different channels blasting out, and on top of that a sound system with Muzak. It was enough to fry my nervous system, so I never used the lobby except for very brief breakfast stops.
The next time I visit this area, I will first look for a good hotel in or around downtown D.C., but if I can't find anything promising (or that I can afford), I'll come to this Homewood Suites!
